Whether it is a new word for you or not, let us start by diving deeper into its definition. As defined by Cambridge Dictionary, it is a noun that means not in a simple, direct, or quick way.

We are all living in this world with varied choices and purposes. Some prefer shortcuts for they value time so much. Though it is acceptable and could increase productivity, it might still become detrimental in the long run. Hence, others prefer the longer route, the roundabouts. It is slowly, but definitely surely.

Roundabouts would also mean a series of crossing intersections. By this phrase, simply implies that it fosters a continuous and smoother flow of traffic. Here is a little bit of trivia. In the Philippines, I have just learned that there is this term called rotunda, and there is this roundabout in the city of Quezon known as Rotonda.

Figuratively speaking, though it takes a longer time to get there to your destination, it is worth the wait because once you get there, it is more apparent that you are safer because sometimes, shortcuts have many inevitable risks. But anyway, life is always a matter of choice. It is us who will decide what road are we going to take.

In life, you may have been meandering along, and then all of a sudden, you stopped. Right in front of you are two different paths. One is filled with roundabouts, and the other is just an ordinary road filled with potholes but a shorter distance to your destination. Some would choose the shorter one because it is just normal to see potholes. However, the less traveled is sometimes the most exciting one. It may slow you down at some point. The important thing is everything goes smoothly and safely.

By choosing the rough road, we get to experience a lot more things. Failure will try to drag us down, but do not let your body get sunken in the bottom. God will always be here to guide us, to help us rise again from the depth, with stronger faith and higher hopes. It feels complicated and very challenging, but it makes the journey more enjoyable, and it gives us the eagerness to finish it with immense satisfaction that could never be felt in any shortcut.

There is no harm in choosing what makes you feel comfortable, anyway. Just remember that life is not a flat road all the way. There are bumps, turns, intersections, and roundabouts. So when you are in a situation where you face a bumpy patch, choose not to grumble. Instead, acknowledge your emotions and think of a proactive way. Because there is no point in bickering in the situation. It is what it is.

I may not have the best pieces of advice in life, but know that anything you've read comes from my heart and that I hope that it would serve as a guide or at least, an inspiration for you. How about you, would you prefer to travel on the road filled with roundabouts?
