Is Justice only entitled for the Rich people?
Good evening dreamers!! How are you? Despite on the challenges and struggles, I hope that you can rest somehow. Time so flies, we are already done with the first week of September. How's your goals so far? If you feel like you are too far achieving it, don't worry you still have days to accomplished it. Be productive, persistent and positive that you can still targeted those goals listed.
I accidentally saw the headlines of the news while I'm browsing on my Facebook account. I didn't get the chance to screenshot the exact details but the thought is that the case of well known person dismissed. Even he is a well known, I am not familiar of that person. On the other hand, I am not surprise reading that kind of headlines knowing that the involve person have money and connections. I read the full detailed and the other party is a normal people. To describe, a poor and powerless person. Maybe, that's why the case was dismissed because the victim have no money to push through the case. Or maybe the other party used their money to cancel out the case.
Reading that makes me questioned if justice is only for the rich people? I know that all of us have equally right to seek for the truth. To get the justice that we deserve. But the sad part, living in this country where corrupts, irresponsible, powerful and influential people lives, it seems that justice is hard to be attained equally. Let's admit the fact that not all people who enforce the law and handle the cases is really committed and honest to their job responsibilities. Some of them turns to be blind in truth when their eyes and mouth will be covered by money. Equal rights seems became a sole right of those who is fortunate enough in terms of connection, money and power. I am sad knowing that some innocent people being jailed because they can't able to protect themselves from accusations. They suffered on the sins that they didn't really committed. The surroundings filled with the loud voice of those people with authority while us, who is only on the lower level of the society became voiceless. Who would listen to us if the money is only matter to them? Who will gonna protect us if those people who should protect us is also the one who initiate the scene? I feel pity for those who can't afford to defend themselves because their opponents has the guts to used up all of the things that they have. I feel hopeless for them because they will not able to achieve the truth.
Is it true that the law is bias somehow ? (Baluktot nga ba ang batas?) Sometimes it is not the law or justice who is biased, it is the person involved to it. They are somehow right when they say that until the money was use to cover the crime, justice will not be found anywhere. It will be filled with darkness, lies and sins. That is also the reason why some people didn't attempt to push the case even they know that they are the victims, it's because they know from the start that they can't make it because they don't have the ability to do so. On the other hand, I also found hard the duty of the lawyer defend their client. I'm not generalizing but there is some who still loyal to their job, to seek the truth and to let the justice be heard. We know that being a lawyer, sometimes your life would be at stake especially if your opponent is powerful. Most of the time, they can turn the table and they also give you a death threat. Honestly, seeking and defending for the truth it really hard especially if you are surrounded with the people who is greedy of power. They will do anything just to get what they want.
Now it hits me on the realizations that it is so hard to be born poor on this kind of society. But it is harder if you are still poor when you've encountered this kind of situation, when you need to defend yourself against the law. Sometimes it is not only a battle for justice but it turns to be a battle of power and money. Lucky those who attain the justice without suffering anything. This is the reality and it happens even we can't notice it. I just hope that someday, justice will become equally distributed to all. Hoping that money will not be overrated than justice.
Note: All of this is just my personal thoughts and opinions about the issue. I know that maybe not everyone will be agree on what I've said but this is the thing that I observe on our society. Sad truths but yeah that's reality behind.
Appreciation!!
