Us Movie Review
The first time I got a chance to watch the movie “Us” was in my room, no lights on, to make the movie more fun to watch, I guess. I actually have no idea of what is about to happen. I just got the movie from my friend and she said she hasn’t watched it because she doesn’t like horror flicks. It said that it was a Jordan Peele movie and it stars Lupita Nyong’o. That alone is already a good movie to watch. Big fan of Lupita here ever since 12 Years A Slave.
WARNING: SPOILERS TO BE SPILLED
The first part of the movie was already a question to my mind. Lupita’s character, Adelaide Wilson, was with her family when she was a kid and they were in a circus. She was then like forced by something that made her way through a room called “Vision Quest: Find Yourself”. Although it seemed to be opened, there was no one in the room. As she entered, she was welcomed with walls in design and there were also mirrors. The trouble starts when she saw another girl, in the same outfit and hairstyle as her, completely facing backwards from her. Well of course, this is a horror film so most of the time, you can’t easily spill out details. The movie goes on. Adelaide had a family. They had a vacation someplace else then one night, they were surprised to see a family in their garage. The family then broke in and the Wilson family was shocked to see that the family is actually them, all dressed in a red suit with scissors in their hands. All the fun and/or murder, starts there. Luckily no one died as they managed to escape. The Wilson’s decided to seek help to their friend, the Tyler’s. The Tyler family on the other hand, however died when their clones arrived in their house.
The whole movie is scandalous by the way. There were blood and killings that even though I think suits the idea of the film, it is not recommendable for younger audience. I would never want to watch it with my younger brother since he always asks questions. And I hate it when people do that.
In terms of how the movie was produced, I wouldn’t expect it to be bad since it was a Jordan Peele movie and I was right when I saw it. Chances are, he actually even did a good job in it. The cinematography of the film was notable. Every scene was kind of entertaining. Though I didn’t get the idea of why Red’s voice, the other Adelaide Wilson from the underground, was like that. It sounded dismaying because when I first watched it, I didn’t understand what she meant. I had to play it again to properly hear the words uttered by her.
But all in all, I liked it. I wanted it to have a sequel. But this time, I’ll be sure to watch it in a movie theater.
By the way, the ending is shocking. It explains the whole story and why it happened. I personally recommend it for everyone to watch.
I'm watching this now. Because of your article. I'll update you with how I think of it. hehe
