Read much? I hope you do, that is, outside of read.cash. Reading here is by and large pretty simplistic: simple and oftentimes fun. However, reading helps us of all gain knowledge and wisdom, and also helps us become better writers.

Nevertheless, I submit to you that anything that one peruses must be read with a critical thinking mind, dependent on the context. After all, you cannot nor should you trust everything you read.

Newspapers

Do you read newspapers? They can feed a reader with information and misinformation at the same time. Most of the legacy media in the world is propaganda. If you really want to know what is going on in your world, you have to find reputable, alternative media.

Otherwise, a newspaper is handy for classified ads, reading obituaries, scanning headlines to examine further on alt sites, and lining your bird cafe or cleaning windows.

Books

How about books? Novels are fun. Personally, I favor the classics, as compared to contemporary fiction. Ultimately, however, I prefer non-fiction. This is where books are able to inform you on any topic you can imagine.

Our contemporary society is banning books because of cancel culture, so I am careful to store #free PDF copies on an external hard drive. You might want to give that idea some thought if you have an affinity for reading books.

Journals

I also read a considerable amount of scientific journal articles over the course of a year, perhaps 300-500. These get to the nitty gritty on darn near any topic you can conceive of. You may download myriad copies on #Google Scholar.

Horoscopes

It seems like everybody has read their horoscope at least one time or another. Funny how these always seem to make sense in your present life, right? Some people even go so far as to depend on them for their daily living. Personally, I don't trust them, as they delve into the magic arts and are thus deceptive.

Fortune cookies

Do you ever play the lottery based on numbers found in a fortune cookie? Do you believe them? They are like written tweets from the Twitterverse, pithy good luck sayings, etc. People have actually won the lottery by using numbers inside a fortune cookie. While I like the taste of these cookies, I would not trust the written "fortune" any farther than I could throw my washer or dryer.

Bible

Do you read the Bible? It remains the bestselling book in all of history, after all. (The second is the allegorical Pilgrims's Progress by John Bunyan.) From Genesis to Revelation, it relates stories about God and His revelation of Himself, and how he works in the lives of humans, as well as divulges His plan for all of humanity.

Commonality

Do you know what all of the above-mentioned have in common? If you said they are all written by men or women, you'd be right!

Maybe some of you balked at Bible reading. Many do. Many people may use it as decor on their coffee table, an old relic from grandma. They may even read it here and there. But in the end, the vast majority of folks refuse to believe it because it was written by men.

The meme says a lot, right? Personally, I believe God, who cannot lie, to have entrusted men to write what needed to be said to his creation. Consider it a summary from the beginning to the consummation of the world.

Think about it. Everything you need for living your life is included in the Bible, a relevant source for the woes of humanity and how to solve them. Whatever your problem is today, know that God has a solution in His word, the Bible.
