Now he wasn't going to let history repeat itself, this a new people they can't insult him for being dull here also.

This difference this time was he wasn't only determined to try harder, he already knew what he was going to do to bring about the change he wanted. The information as to what makes a person top a class was already with him, he had learnt it via associating and living with a bright guy, funny how we was eager for test to be conducted, we had never seen him so eager for a test, rather he prays the day never comes. But having implemented all he has seen and subconsciously learnt, he noticed he was ready and was going to shock his family and friends, he really wanted to surprise everyone, he knew he would and oh yes he did.

Up until when he was much older and was in the university, his father sat with him and told him the secret behind what he did for him and to him. He was dull not because he could not read, not because they were all bright people in his class, rather he was lacking the information that makes a person intelligent, he had to first get the information, that's what he can use, it was clear advices and sanctions were not doing enough, he had enough reason to want to change, cause of the insults of his peers and family sanctions, yet he still couldn't do better, there was a barrier, those people around him were already demoralizing him cause they already believed he his dull and his will isn't strong enough to fight through their conclusion.

Yes, first got the information as to what makes a person top his class, then create an environment for change to be effective, then give a good reason to try, he really tried to prove a point to his mockery, his family and friends and that was a source of motivation for him to do all what he learnt, and it work.
