Today we celebrate international Women's Day and every Monday of March we are encouraged in our workplace to wear purple to celebrate the Month of March for Women.
There must be something special in women to designate a month in every year for US - women. Like mothers, fathers and grandparents day, we also have ours to celebrate being a woman. So what is so special with us? I have been thinking some facts about it and might share it here, maybe like some trivia you see around.
Let me start it from here...
1. The patience to endure pain and discomfort with the monthly menstruation. Not to mention the premenstrual syndrome of abdominal pain and sometimes headaches. Yes! This will nag us once in every month, and it is never easy to carry it with us at work or at school, and we are not even excused despite having this around every month!
2. It's amazing how women can endure carrying another human within her for 9 months. Just imagine those ligaments in the low back and abdominal muscles in front stretching to its maximum to accomodate the baby on her pelvic cavity, and above all carrying the baby around 5-10 lbs. anytime she stands and walk to do some chores, errands and some pregnant mothers still have to work up to the 9th month!
3. A woman like - a mother, mom, mommy, momma is the only person in the world that can incessantly go through the pain of child birth/labor. You can hear her moan, shout and curse but can never give up delivering her baby into this world.
4. Lots of women in some parts of the world are fighting for gender equality. Just recently, after how many years of figting for fairness among men and women, the latter in Saudi Arabia were now given the previledge to drive vehicles, and to pursue a profession they want. After so many years of conservatively unjust cultural mentality where women were not given an equal chance with men to study and pursue a career and do things that they want to do in society. In addition to that, women in some countries were also not allowed to run for public office. Despite of her brilliance and qualifications, the fact that she's a woman, the right to become a public leader is not for her. However, women continues to defy the odds, from Joan of Arc till now a lot of women succeed and diligently proves to the world of what she is capable of doing.
5. Women are great homemakers. Men can be homemakers too, but only women have the patience to work for it with grace and calmness. Most women can do it for a lifetime!
6. Women can work in the sidelines with joy. As this famous quote goes;
"Behimd every man's success is a woman."
Yes, a woman takes joy in the success of his man - his partner, yet never gets intimidated. She understands her worth in the success of his man with respect and dignity. Moreover, she never thinks of dominance but delight with obedience and respect. For this reason, a wife should never be treated as slave in her home, and never deserves to be abused by any man.
Women should be empowered, and be reminded that we are all equal to man. In his birth, he will remember a woman's worth.
So...
This month, and the whole year round - "WE MAKE CHANGE WORK FOR WOMEN."
