Hi, my beautiful friends. It's been a few days since I opened the read.cash site to read or write. While today I have time, so I take the time to write. However, in this article, I do not discuss psychology or parenting. Today I will write a story about a woman I met a few days ago at the coffee shop where I was hanging out.

At that time I was alone enjoying the coffee I ordered. The customers at the coffee shop happened to be busy. So, a woman who was also a customer at the coffee shop didn't get a table, so I offered her to sit with me at my table. The woman's name is Lara. She is about 50 years old. So while chatting with her, she told her a story about when she came to this town for the first time.

At that time Lara was just a teenage girl living in the village. Her parents are just ordinary farmers with low incomes. Because their parents' income is low, Lara can't continue her high school education after graduating from junior high school. Finally, Lara decided to go to the city to find a job and be able to earn an income. Arriving in the city, Lara stayed at her aunt's house. She helps her aunt at home before getting a job. After a week in the city, Lara lands a job as a cashier at a supermarket. She was very happy when she was accepted to work.

Lara also gave this good news to her parents who were in the village with a letter. Lara's parents were very happy to get the news. Lara's parents advised her to be diligent in her work and not to forget to take care of her health. Lara is a very hard working woman. From morning to evening, she works as a cashier at a supermarket. Even when she comes home from work she still helps her aunt work at home. Lara is a tough woman, she has free time only at night.

After a few months, Lara works in a supermarket, and she meets a man named Toni. The man lives near her aunt's house. Toni is a good man, so Lara likes Toni and always makes Lara feel comfortable being beside Toni. After several years of knowing Lara, Toni finally proposed to Lara. Lara is very happy when Toni came to propose to her. Finally, they got married in this city, accompanied by Toni's parents and Lara. They both smiled happily on the wedding day. Their parents also pray for them so that their relationship as husband and wife will last long into old age.

In the second year of their marriage, Lara became pregnant and had a son whom they named Rico. How happy Lara and Toni were when they had their first child. Lara, who was still working at the supermarket at that time, lived at Toni's parents' house. Actually, they both wanted to rent a house, but because Lara was still working as a cashier at the supermarket, she chose to stay at Toni's parent's house, hoping that Toni's mother could take care of her son. But unfortunately, Toni's parents did not want to take care of their son while she was at work. Until finally Lara asked her neighbours for help in taking care of her son while she was at work.

When her son was one and a half months old, the unexpected happened. Lara's son, Rico, has a fever which makes the baby's body temperature hot. Toni was very worried when his first son was sick. He told Lara to stop working and focus on taking care of her child. Lara didn't want to stop working at the supermarket, however, circumstances forced her to no longer work and only take care of her child.

After Lara stopped working, new problems began. Toni's parents started to get angry with Lara a lot. Whatever Lara does, it is always wrong in the eyes of Toni's parents. It seems that Toni's parents don't like it when Lara stops working. Lara often cries because she is often scolded by her in-laws, but Toni continues to advise and encourage Lara to remain patient and sincere in facing this ordeal. Until the 25th year of marriage, Toni's parents became seriously ill. Lara's sick mother-in-law apologized to Lara for what she had done so far. Lara also forgave her. After that, Toni's parents, namely Lara's in-laws, died. Until now Lara, Toni, and their children live at Toni's parents' house.

So, the conclusion of Lara's story is; It's not easy when we live with in-laws. It must be realized that no family is perfect. Sometimes we argue, get angry and irritated, and even stop talking to each other. But in the end, family is still family, love will always be in the family.

An important message for you when you have a daughter-in-law; Think of her as your daughter too, not as someone else. Understand the fact that your daughter-in-law is your son's wife and treat your daughter-in-law the way you would want her to treat you.

Yes, you are right dear. We need to treat other children as if they are our children. Because if the time has come on us we don't regret on how we treat them. If we are in the same scene as Lara. And I salute to her for being patient with her inlaws.

Of course. Even though I'm not married. But I understand how Lara felt when she was with her mother-in-law.

How patient and steadfast Lara was in dealing with such in-laws for 25 years. Kudos to Lara.

Better to live in a tent, under a bridge
than with in-laws or parents.
Always.

It's not always like that. There were also some good in-laws, but Lara was out of luck. Because she got a toxic mother-in-law.

My reply caught you 'projecting' what you thought I was writing.
😂
It is always better to not live with parents or in-laws.
Not because anyone involved in such a scenario is 'bad'.
👺
But, simply,
because living with them creates all kinds of expectations
that no one involved should be expected to meet.
Family relationships (both by blood and by legal extents)
ooze expectations that do not exist between unrelated people.
Simple things like "picking up after oneself"
becomes a weaponized issue when blood is mixed in.
🤼
Between two unrelated people
such issues can be rationally resolved. 😇
No 'Family' ever resolves such issues rationally.
It always devolves to who is senior or
male or has the loudest 📢 voice.

yes I understand. It's true what you said. If I had to choose, I chose not to be under the same roof with my in-laws. However, there are people who are forced to live with their in-laws. Usually those who have financial problems.

Not all mothers-in-law are good. Some in-laws like Toni's parents are not good. I'm so sorry Lara.

That's how human nature is. Some are good and some are not.

After I read this, I think that there are some toxic parents who only think about money and don't think about the whole problem that Toni and Lara are having.

Not only parents. Sometimes, in friendship we also find it like that. Some friends are toxic, some are good. Human nature is different.
