Hi, my friends on read.cash wherever you are, Back again in my article which discusses psychology and parenting. Today, I am writing an article aimed at those of you who already have children or those of you who have younger siblings, who may often be confused about how they learn. Many of the children may be lazy to learn, and experience obstacles in learning, which ultimately makes their grades or their absorption of material less. One solution that you can try is Play therapy to help children learn more fun.
What is Play Therapy
As the name implies, play therapy is a psychological therapy designed in such a way to help clients (especially children) to want to learn, but in a fun way. Play Therapy can overcome limitations and can make children express their feelings and help control their abilities.
Play therapy is useful for helping children understand the material, and keep it for a long time. This therapy uses games that can expand teaching techniques, which makes the teaching and learning process more fun and more practical. Play therapy is also called effective for increasing creativity, social skills, and also modifying children's behavior.
In America itself, play therapy has been legally recognized and is indicated by the existence of play therapy organizations or associations, which focus on the development and application of techniques from play therapy.
Forms of Play Therapy
Play Therapy is one of the most effective psychological intervention or therapy techniques. Play Therapy can be divided into 2 parts or two forms, namely:
Non-Directive Play Therapy
Non-directive play therapy is a form of play therapy, where the therapy participants are free to do whatever they want. There are no special goals or special instructions in playing. The assessment of this non-directive therapy is to see how far participants can find their problems, and how they can solve these problems. This will make children who follow non-directive play therapy will explore their environment independently and freely.
Directive Play Therapy
In contrast to non-directive play therapy, directive play therapy is a play therapy intervention, in which there are clear and well-structured instructions. The main target of directive play therapy is how your child can create or reduce certain behaviors. For example, raising the spirit of learning, overcoming the problem of learning disorders, or reducing hyperactive behavior in children.
How to Start Play Therapy?
To start to play therapy, of course, you must first focus on what the child's problem is, and the goals you want to achieve. After that, then you can start designing, want to use non-directive forms, or want to use directive play therapy.
For a given game, you can design it yourself, and it requires your creativity. For example, large cardboard with many names, then ask your child to arrange the words based on the shapes that appear on the computer screen.
A mature and regular design of play therapy will make the therapy process run well and smoothly. So, it can be concluded that play therapy is one of the therapeutic techniques for children that is simple and also fun because it combines elements of play with learning. Are you interested in doing it for your child? Please try it if you are interested in doing it.
