Pandemic

This pandemic made me realize a lot of things. Things which I can never know or understand if this didn't happen. Many things has been taken for granted for thinking that everything will stay as it is. No one has ever thought that something like this will happen. It was like a movie with unpredictable ending. Everything changed so fast. In a snap of a finger things are never the same. Streets became empty. Physical distancing is mandated. Face masks, face shields and alcohol are the life savers.

Nothing is permanent. When you put your security in your job, you thought wrong. Many people lost their jobs. If your happiness depends on other people, then you are definitely saddened by this pandemic. Parties and get togethers has been postponed. Celebrations are a lot different than how it is celebrated before. Plans are postponed until further notice.

The season of lockdown is uncomfortable to most people. Not everyone is given the chance to work from home or get locked down with their families. Most people was working to survive daily, but as the pandemic worsened even surviving has become difficult. The things you treasure the most seems to be worthless when there's no food on the table. Many people suffered anxiety and depression. There's no certainty of what tomorrow will bring. It's difficult to sympathize with other people.

People whose lives are about dealing with people on a daily basis has been stopped. No more money for their families, nor enough comfort for everyone. People who are stuck on board are being chased away for the fear of getting infected. Patients with the same symptoms has been put in isolation. Their families are left with nothing but worry. Bills piled up. Electric bill, water bill, internet connection, loans, credit cards, and rent increased due to the lack of money.

This pandemic exposed the hearts of people. Hoarding and trying to outwit others has been rampant. Most people think about their own welfare. The camaraderie is gone. Instead of encouragement, hopelessness spread quickly. Those who has the eye for money used this opportunity to take money from the poor. Instead of helping one another, they became the reason for others to become helpless.

It's a good thing if you have the means to live everyday but how about the homeless? Those who lost their jobs due to the pandemic? Those heroes who put their lives on the line in order to save others? Those who doesn't even have a decent house to live in? Those who are already struggling but struggled even more as the lockdown continues? Those who aren't accessible enough for relief?

You see life isn't the same for everyone. You might be living without worrying about anything. You might have a comfortable house to live in or you might be thinking hard about your next meal. Maybe in your perspective you're saying that it's not your fault for other people's situation or it's not your concern if they aren't able to save up money for emergency. Maybe you think that other people get what they deserve but it's not like that. Not at all.

Who would ever want to live in poverty? Who would ever choose not to save money when all the money they get from working is not even enough to get by everyday? Why will they even wait for the relief goods from the government? No one ever wanted to live that way. Absolutely no one. Clearly this is no one's fault.

Many people are affected. It's not just you. Hardships are part of life. Without hardships there are no breakthroughs as well. When you are in pain or tired about everything, just remember that you have survived today and you will surely continue to survive. Live your life with a purpose. Don't just live to get by, live to inspire. Your circumstances doesn't define you, it's how you handle them that does.

This is the time when internet connection and gadgets are necessities. Not everyone is privileged enough to purchase these. You might be browsing your Facebook and see unbelievable stories but it's the truth. You might think that people exaggerate things but they don't. It's the reality of most people. You might have a private car for transportation but most people has to ride the bus or the train in order to get to their workplaces. Some even has to walk the long way in order to provide for their family. You must think that your food is not appetizing enough while others don't even have food to eat.

The government has been criticized for its actions towards this pandemic but let me tell you this. Most critics can't even offer a solution. Instead of criticizing, why not try to become a help. The blame is put on the government but clearly it's no one's fault. The government is doing its best to help everyone. So please do your part and follow the safety protocols.

Wear your face mask and face shield properly. Do not go out when it's unnecessary. Avoid going to crowded places. Wash your hands regularly. Use hand sanitizer or alcohol in order to protect yourself and others. Do not forget to physically distance yourself so that you can hug more people in the future. This pandemic will surely come to pass as well.

If you have a job during this pandemic then it's good for you. Is you have a comfortable home to live in then consider yourself blessed. If you never experienced lacking in food or necessities then you are more than blessed. If you have the ability to help then do so. Helping isn't limited in finances. You can help by creating opportunities for others to earn. You can help by continuously praying for others. You can help by spreading awareness and not adding fuel to the fire.

Think of the frontliners. Many of them has died fighting this unseen enemy and many of them are still fighting. Many people lost their loved ones. Most Frontliners can't even live with their families. Let us help them by being responsible enough.

Take plenty of rest. Eat healthy foods. Exercise. Drink vitamins. Talk with other people through the social media. Spread positivity. Do not sulk and drown yourself with your own miseries. Be responsible enough not to cause others to get infected by the virus. Most importantly never forget to pray to God. Just as to how God has hardened the heart of Pharaoh and how He allowed the Egyptians to experience different plagues, be rest assured that God will make us free form this pandemic just like the Israelites.

This pandemic hasn't ended because somehow it's purpose is not yet fulfilled. This pandemic is a great reminder that nothing can give us enough comfort. Everything is temporary. Except for the love of God and the fact that He is coming again to judge the world.

This pandemic is an eye opener and the perfect chance for people to know that there is God and He is waiting for everyone to return home to Him.

I have a lot of realizations in this pandemic and just the same with you I also think about how temporary things, everything is impermanent.
