Success isn’t something that you pursue
Success isn’t something that you pursue, success is something that you attract by the person you become
If you want to have more, you have to become more. Success is not something your pursue. What you pursue will elude you; it will elude you; it can be like trying to chase butterflies. Success is something you attract by the person you become.
– Jim Rohn
Achieving success means becoming someone who attracts other successful people. You will never achieve success if you are not willing to change your life. Success is achieved by changing yourself into someone who attracts others into your orbit. If you want to succeed, you must let go of everything around you – relationships, habits, bad beliefs, etc. - and focus all of your energy on changing yourself and becoming the best version of yourself possible. Once you achieve that goal, people who want to succeed will begin to follow you. Only then will you truly start to experience success.
So when you think about your future, do you want to stay the same forever? Or do you want to become more of who you were meant to be?
The secret to success is not about becoming someone else. Your true value is not measured by what you own or how much money you make, but by whom you are becoming. The truth is that there are many ways to do well: you could focus on improving your relationships, your job fulfillment, your level of happiness or even your income. However, in the end, it doesn’t matter which one of these factors you choose. What matters is that you keep making progress towards becoming the best version of yourself. If you want to grow, you must constantly seek out improvement. You must keep evolving and moving forward, otherwise you risk stagnating in place.
Aim High
In his book How To Become A Millionaire: The Seven Steps To Financial Freedom, Zig Zaglar suggests that we don’t set goals like winning the lottery because “the odds are astronomical against you.” Instead, he advises us to think big, not small. He says that instead of thinking about being a millionaire, we should aim to be a billionaire. By focusing on a smaller number, you are setting yourself up for failure. Why not aim high?
Money is important, but not everything.
Zig Ziglar reminds us again that money isn’t everything. Sure, it’s nice to have money, but if it were all that mattered we wouldn’t need to strive to be anything more than just average. Money is only an indication of the things we achieve. The real test of our success comes in what we do with it, and in how we treat others along the way.
Money is really just a tool like any other. It helps you get from point A to point B. Without it, you may end up somewhere else entirely. It helps you buy stuff or travel around the world, but if we put all our focus on money then we won’t get any bigger than ourselves. We could end up forgetting what really matters more in life, like treating other people well or making a difference in the world. Maybe we can go back to the basics and remember why we started pursuing something and who we wanted to become. All this will help us to get better at achieving our goals.
Money is not important—it is merely a measurement of the things you accomplish. Only when you put that money to good use will you measure its true worth. Even then, money won’t guarantee happiness. Happiness comes from within, and only you can give yourself the satisfaction that will last forever.
To achieve success, we have to get better
If we are always trying to be exactly like we were before and do things exactly the same every time, we won’t get any better, and success will be far-fetched. We all need to grow, even if we never think about it. We cannot expect our current level of achievement to last forever. To become successful, we have to constantly strive to be better. We need to keep learning and growing, just like a plant needs sunlight and water to thrive. We need to evolve as we go along. If we stay at our current level, we will never reach our goals.
If we aren’t willing to change our strategy each time we fail or don’t meet up to our expectation, we may end up doing the same thing over and over again and fail to reach our goals.
We want to achieve success, so why are we stuck at any point?
In life, sometimes it feels like you're moving forward, and then suddenly you realize you've come to a stop. You try to move again, and nothing happens. Why does this happen? There are many reasons: maybe your car won't start, you may not feel well, or you may just need to rest for a while. These moments happen to everyone. We all go through them. Sometimes, however, our lives seem to slow down. Maybe you get sick, or there are other circumstances that prevent us from moving forward. But what if you could actually change this momentum?
The reason we get stuck is because we focus our attention on what is wrong instead of what we can do to make it right. We keep seeing problems, when there are solutions. If you focus your attention on how to make things right, all manner of solutions appears before your eyes. Every problem has its solution.
Who do I need to become?
“To achieve something you have never achieved before you must become someone you have never been.” – Les Brown
You should ask yourself:
- What kind of person would I need to become to be successful at what I do?
- What habits, disciplines, and/or behaviors do I need to start or stop, increase or reduce?
Successful people don't stay stuck in a rut. They move forward. They take massive action. You shouldn’t be sitting around waiting to get motivated instead of starting something. Don’t wait for someone else to help me before you do anything. Don’t wait to have the perfect conditions, not taking initiative because you feel helpless. You need to get out there and start making things happen. You need to start going after what you want. You need to get rid of excuses. You need to stop thinking about what other people think of you. You have to stop believing everything everyone told you. You have to change who you are, and become a better version of yourself.
You need to give yourself permission to be happy. You need to change your attitude. You need to stop trying to please everybody else. You have to let go of fear. You need to start smiling at every opportunity. You need to start appreciating what you already have. You need to start loving myself. You need to stop being afraid of success. You need to start acting confident.
To attain good success, one must stop dreaming about it and begin working towards the direction where it lies.
