Sometimes the best way to move forward is to take a step back.

Far too often, we grow obsessed with our lives and careers, to the exclusion of everything else. We fill every waking moment with work, either talking about it or doing it. Time with friends and family is pushed to the back burner. Eventually, the stress becomes so great that we hit a breaking point and collapse under its weight. When this happens, we have to take a step back and regroup in order to make any forward progress in our lives or careers.

We're all busy. We have so many things to do and so little time in which to do them. But we don't always know what's really important, and sometimes it's easy to spend our time on the wrong things—and even worse, on things that aren't actually beneficial for us at all.

We've all been there: you're just trying to get through the day, but then you find yourself thinking about that thing you should be doing, but aren't. And then, before you know it, your whole day is off track because of it.

The good news is that taking a step back in order to progress forward is possible! It's not easy—you have to have a clear sense of what's truly important for YOU and put those things above everything else—but once you do it can change your life completely!

Here are some ways in which I've found pulling back in order to move forward makes me feel happier:

  • When I pull back for a time, I get to see and hear much clearly about how to go ahead.

  • I'm able to refocus on my goals and priorities without getting distracted by other things that don't matter (or might even be bad for me). This helps me prioritize my needs better than ever before!

  • It allows me to clear my mind and learn more about the situation , which will help me make even better decisions going forward.

  • I'm able to spend more time with people who really care about me.

It's easy to get caught up in the moment, and it can be hard to slow down and take the time to reflect on the way you're living your life. But taking a step back in order to progress in life can be an important part of growing and developing as a person.

The key is knowing when to stop and when to keep moving forward. Sometimes we need to take our foot off the pedal, so that we can slow down long enough to actually appreciate what we're doing and why we're doing it.

It's not just about taking time off from work or school; it's about taking time away from your life in general. It might be a retreat that helps you recharge and refocus on your goals and values, or maybe it's something as simple as spending more time with friends or family members who support you or just listening to music while doing chores around the house.

The point is: sometimes you need to step back in order to make forward progress.

When you're trying to make changes, it can be tempting to try and force them on yourself. But sometimes, the best way to move forward is to take a step back and figure out what went wrong in the first place. This doesn't mean giving up or stopping (although sometimes it might feel like that) but instead means figuring out how to use your mistakes as a stepping stone so that you can move forward successfully next time around.

Live to fight another day. Pulling back in a difficult situation, gives us time to regroup, restrategize or have a clearer perspective of the situation. Then we can prepare better to advance.

That pullback moment gives us time to think instead of rushing into decisions.

Taking a step backward is not bad because one will use that opportunity to think again and prepare to launch like a sling shot for a better result.
