I work in telecommunications and it is very common among colleagues to eat in front of our computers and electronic equipment, it is really a very bad habit, because we need all the harmony, tranquility and peace so that the digestive process is carried out in a natural way and that allows our body to benefit from the necessary nutrients to keep us healthy and strong.
But sometimes, I must stress, on many occasions, we can't get away from our computers, we have taken our work to our home and we can't even stop watching TV on our days off; that's why I have devised a way to make the experience of eating more pleasant, as well as taking the necessary measures to avoid the contamination of our food and the proliferation of bacteria in our work area.
Colourful food and environment
I love vegetables, they provide a high content of vitamins and minerals from mother earth, so, as much as possible I add many vegetables, vegetables and natural condiments, such as: potatoes, carrots, onion, paprika, sweet pepper, garlic, cilantro, among many others, always supervising and avoiding the consumption of salt because of all the implications it can cause to health.
A healthy and natural diet, whenever possible, strengthens our immune system, a very important point in the midst of the crisis in the current global health system.
The psychology of colour indicates that perceiving colours causes a chain reaction of different stimuli that directly affect our mood, the combination of warm colours (red, yellow, orange) and cold (blue, green, violet) provide feelings of enthusiasm, love, wellbeing, serenity, among others; that is why large food chains use colour as their primary ally when it comes to attracting customers.
Hygiene, health and recommendations
According to scientific studies, our desk is one of the most contaminated places anywhere; keyboard, pencils, and the table itself contain more bacteria than a toilet, as long as constant hygiene measures are not maintained, besides it is very unpleasant to find food crumbs left by another colleague, when we use shared devices.
Make sure you continue to clean your hands and everything around you, cleanliness is not just about mopping with antibacterial, it is also a feeling, a clean smell that is perceived by our senses.
One of the reasons why it is recommended not to eat at the desk where we work, is precisely to get away for a moment from our work obligations; once we adopt this practice, our brain will relate the environment, including food, as part of the work and this can affect the feeling of satiety that we normally have when we are satisfied: by focusing on all the tasks we usually have in our office, our brain does not have the necessary focus to tell us the right time when we should stop eating our food.
Let's make sure that the food we bring from home does not have strong smells: cheese, fish, broccoli, are aromas that are difficult to eliminate and even more so when we use a microwave; aroma is a focal point in the performance and productivity of our functions.
Most eating disorders start when we skip meal times; I remember when I worked in an airport, with exhausting work days, my colleagues and I would take our meals at the side of the main console, we would always get hungry and no matter how much we ate between meals nothing seemed to satisfy us. Eventually, we had to start an exercise routine, due to the weight gain.
Let's try to establish a routine, an excellent time of peace and quiet when we eat our food; my father says: "Eat to live, don't live to eat".
