Writing with the Passage of Time
November 13, 2022Writing is one of the very ancient skills that has adopted in each and every era. However, writing techniques, tools and methods have been changed with the passage of time.
In the ancient days, people used different things for writing according to the time and needs. For instance, they were writing on stones and animal skins, also some leaves and logs of the trees have been brought into use for writing. That is paper the invention of paper.
Later the paper was invented for the very same purpose, i.e. for writing. Since world created and human understand the need and requirements of writing, they have been writing and didn't stop.
Even before the creation and making the Universe, writing were exist.
Allah (God) the Almighty had written everything on لوحٍ محفوظ (sounds like Lowh-e-Makhfooz), that was perhaps thousand of years before the creation of the universe.
What is لوحٍ محفوظ (Lowh-e-Makhfooz)?
That is beyond my knowledge, however, I know and could tell you from my knowledge that it is a place/thing in which everything about each and everyone and everything has already been written by Allah (God) the Almighty, about the past, present and future (from day first till doom's day and after that).
Anyways, I'm not here to talk and discuss لوح محفوظ (Lowh-e-Makhfooz), rather to talk about writing and impact with passage of time.
People used to write with hand in different style and format, style and size that was according to the language and of course time.
Everyone of the hand writing era, who was getting education, knew how to write. Most likely they also knew the writing style and format too required for/in a language.
Later it typewriter and press were introduced, however, handwriting still remain around.
Well, next the computer era started and everything started computerized. Let's discuss some pros and cons of that era.
Computerized era and it impact on writing
In the last people used to keep record, write things in notebook, registers and books etc. Similarly, the reading was upto books, newspapers, notebook, registers etc. that would have been written with hand, of course later handwriting converted to type writer, printing press.
With the passage of time everything changed, including write and reading. Printers and soft forms have been introduced.
Consider this is a no-computer and a no-mobile era I would been writing this article (maybe) using either a type writer or maybe before that with my hands using a pen and paper.
Similarly you would have been reading the same script and my hand writing or written with typewriter.
These culture are only exist in past and nowadays in stories.
Whereas I discussed some cons there are lots of pros of this era of writing
For instance, it is less expensive or in most cases cost nothing. Similarly it saves ink, paper and time.
Closing Arguments
In the past almost everyone, who was getting education, knew how to write, writing style and format etc.
The current and computerized era have changed our lives, most of the young generation don't know how to write on in their own language and using the correct style and format. Of course they will be so intelligent, but when it's come to writing they will either know nothing or a little (in correct style and format).
Mobile and Computer have ruined the book reading, writing culture..
On the other hands, it has been saving our time, paper and cost and helping in Go-Green.
