Shira's POV:
One summer vacation i went to Lia's home to spend the rest of the vacation. I did not plan anything i just want to relax and have a peaceful summer. Their province has a lot of open fields where they laid off the corns that the farmers had harvest, sometimes lia would invite me to ride a bike and just circle around one of the field and other time we ride till we reach another barrio, it was nice feeling the summer breeze caress your bare shoulders. We just enjoy riding a bike in a broad daylight specially me since i lived in a city, being in a province was so much more relaxing.
One day suddenly lia told me that we should try playing tennis at the court, i just sit there and stare at her while i try to contemplate. I do not have any experience playing the sport that lia was very fond of, although i play badminton i dont really think they were somewhat similar, the only similarities both sport has was the rackets, not that they are very similar they just called the same name, i mean even the court where you them is so different. But i eventually i agree to her since she told me that she teach me how to play and so i agree. She told that we should be ready at early morning since it will be considered as our morning exercise, so we wake up early after packing everything we need we went to the court i don't know how long did it took us because all i did while in the tricycle was doze off.
We came early at the court, lia said we should warm up first so i did what she told me. Later we started our game we were playing doubles, lia was merciless with her hits and i just run around inside the court but can't even hit a ball, tennis is much more complicated than the badminton. Lia come close to me and give me the pointers, hit the ball with the center of theracket so you can have more control over the ball she said, i just nod when in reality i dont know how to make it happen. Back to the court we go i hit the ball finally but with the rim of my racket and went outside, what a nice play by shira. Even if i made a lot of mistakes i still enjoy the time we were playing we still joke around because win or lose it means nothing to us it was just a friendly play to begin with. And so we went back home teasing each others play but no one can tease lia as she was the star player of the day, she really hit those tennis balls with max strength.
Lia's POV:
One of the best feeling in the world is to have a cousin that is also your best friend. Growing up me and shira often meet maybe one week every six months, we are not really close when we were younger like when we where in elementary and junior high school. Thinking that time I can't believe how close we are now, actually I can't even remember how we became close and friends. When we are in senior high school maybe like seventeen we became close, I think it is because we have the same interest and our age group are same.
I think it was last week of march, I was talking to my mama telling her that I really miss shira and wanted to see her, may mama said that if you want to see her we can visit them I was so happy when my mama said that but after an hour my mom told me that we can't go visit them because of some important matters. After a day my mama ask me to contact shira and ask her if she wants to have a vacation here in our province, I reach shira in messenger to ask if she wanted to have her summer here and she said that she will going to tell her mom first, meanwhile she told me that her parents agreed to have her vacation here, we are all excited about that because I think this is her first time to visit our province.
When shira finally came, we chitchat nonstop and play different games in our cellphone, I also asked her to join me ride my bicycle, we went to different places here like in other barrios and in a fields where farmers lay their corns to dried them. Shira and I sometimes cook our food, we also tried cooking churros with chocolate dip, we made graham balls and also we always watch movie in the evening and eat our midnight snacks. I asked shira to play tennis with me, I told her that I will teach her how to use tennis racket and how swing it to hit the ball, when we played tennis my two sisters joined us also and we really enjoyed that time we start playing at around six am and finished around eleven am here in province our tennis court is clay court it is open dor everyone who want to play tennis, sometimes they open a tennis clinic wherein players including me who are members of the tennis court will going to teach students who enrolled for free to learn tennis. After we played we eat our breakfast at Jolibee beside the tennis court, may mama joined us to also fetched us. I will never forget that time when shira had her vacation to us, this march 2021 I asked shira to have her vacation but because of the pandemic she can't go because in her place there are some cases and it is lockdown, maybe in the next summer she will be able to have her vacation here in our province again.
Realization:
What is your most memorable summer and with whom did you spend your vacation?
Just realized that sometimes when we are in that moment we didn't get to think or imagine that in that very moment some memorable memories that you will hold for the rest of your life will happen.
