Happy DNA Day to All!
Article # 07
April 26th, 2022
Yeah! Today’s DNA day. Since 2003, April 25th is celebrated as DNA day. If you are a geneticist/ life scientist/ biologist/doctor, you might feel awkward after reading the title of my article. But, don’t worry! I am going to help you in understanding how much the celebration of this day is important.
We geneticist, work so hard in labs. We know how much struggle we do just to reveal the secret behind the expression of genes. This is so tiring but interesting too.
I remember how much I used to yell at myself for choosing molecular genetics as my degree during my research period ( this often make me laugh). But now after finishing my research work and degree I missed those days. I missed extracting DNA, all the PCRs, and the primer making. The most beautiful part of my whole research period was the gel running, fortunately, I used to get my desired results in each gel run.
Let’s move to the main point. You know what, Actually DNA defines us, DNA carries all the genetic information, and we all are genetically unique. DNA transmits the heredity information from one generation to the next.
You are having your parent’s DNA that is why you resemble them, your hair color, hair texture, eye color, height, complexion, and all other stuff you got from your parents is encoded in your DNA.
It also helps in finding the culprits. So let me explain to you how this is possible.
Example#1
There is a rape case, the police don’t know who is the behind this cause. Now the matter is handed over to foresic lab. The scientist over there solved the matter by matching the sample of both accused rapists and the victim.
Example #2
A lady just delivered a baby in a hospital, a person came and claimed that the newly born baby belongs to them. Doctors subjected the matter to DNA testing. And after matching the DNA of newly born baby with the man ( who claimed being parents of child) and the lady’s husband’s. matter solved. Testing cleared baby belongs to lady’s husband.
I am not good at content writing, I am still in learning phase, I am trying my best to make my articles time effective.
So, here I am tagging my genetists family @Raheela @Caprius,HAPPY DNA DAY!
I hope this article helped you in understanding the importance of DNA day celebration.
Note;
I wrote this article yesterday too, but due to bad internet connection, I was unable to upload on times, that’s why I am posting today!
