It's here again! Random questions: high school edition!

Hello everyone, how was your day? I came across this set of questions on Whatsapp that made me think about my high school years and I figured it will be an interesting random article idea. It will be a great way to end June, so let's get right to it 😁.

Came late?

I was a well-known latecomer back in high school to the extent that a lot of teachers know me for coming late. They will always be like "you again" whenever they see me standing with other people that came late 😆 My house wasn't even far from my school (roughly about a 10 minutes walk) but what usually makes me go to school late is movies.

My parents usually leave for work very early (around 7am) and they usually expect us to leave for school latest at 7:30am. I pretend to get ready and make it seem like I will leave early but as soon as my siblings leave, I sit back and put on the TV to watch a few minutes of cartoon, and then I start running like crazy to school once I see the time is already very late 😆

Left home but didn't get to school?

I didn't exactly do this but I did something similar; I went to school, dropped my backpack, and went somewhere else. We usually pay our school fees in a bank and the school allows friends to accompany each other when one wants to pay their school fees.

So, what I usually do is accompany all my friends anytime they want to pay their school fees and we take more time than it's needed. Now, this is where it gets crazy; more than half of the class were my friends 😂

Fought in school?

I think I did a couple of times back in primary school but I never did in high school and that's because we fought in another way; with our mouths. We tease and insult each other just for fun and if you don't have thick skin, then you're likely going to cry from getting verbally bullied by those with vile tongues. Luckily for me, I was one of those with a very vile tongue (still am 😉).

Gave teachers name

Come on, we all did this back in high school, right? right?! 😰 I did it a lot in high school and that habit still follows me till now, I always make up funny and weird names for people around me (my friends here can testify to that). I gave teachers names a lot back in school but I was never caught 😎

That's just one of the ways students have fun in the classroom, and it also happens in the university! I remember some of my classmates naming a female lecturer after a particular breed of cattle (black Bororo) when I was in my second year, we still secretly call her that name up till now 😆

Cried after being beaten

Beaten by a teacher? At some certain point I did, some of the teachers we have in my country are very wicked and will beat you the way Jesus was beaten when he was about to be crucified 😭 but cried after being beaten by my peers? Never! When I still fought around back in primary school, I never shed tears whenever I lost a fight coz that will only make things worse, you will be called a cry baby for the rest of your life 😆.

Jumped the school fence

Nope, never did. The fence surrounding my high school was very high (it actually felt like we were in prison). The only that has a short fence is the front, but security is there. Besides, why jump the school fence when you can just make friends with the security guard and leave whenever you want? 😆

I didn't jump the school fence in high school but I did in the university. My friends and I went to a matriculation party at night and we were returning around 1am but the school gate has been locked. We begged the security guards to let us in but they refused and said it will be opened by 5am. We had nowhere else to go, then one of my friends suggested jumping the fence.

We went to the part where the security guards won't be able to see us and carried out our plan. Some of the guards were patrolling the premises, so we had to time our jumps very well when they walked past that area. As soon as they were out of sight, we jumped over the fence and ran as fast as our legs could carry us. I could feel my heart beating in my mouth coz I know what will happen if we were caught; we will be suspended or possibly expelled from the university.

Called to the principal office?

Just once and I didn't even do anything wrong! What happened was that I got a set of binoculars from my cousin and I took it to school because it was very exciting to use. I was using it in class and focus on a bottle of coke on the table but one of my female classmates accused me of using it to look at her body! (I don't know if she thought it was an x-ray device or something)

She reported me to the principal's office and I was summoned. Luckily for me, the principal wasn't around and I met the secretary there. I explained my side of the story and the secretary believed me coz she know I was a very good student (I was a prefect for over 4 years). She let me go but she seized the binoculars 🤦 she said I was wrong for using them in class.

Left school before dismissal time?

Remember the part where I said you can just make friends with the security guard at the gate and leave whenever you want? That's exactly what I did 😆 sometimes when I notice a certain teacher who is supposed to take the last class won't be coming, I wait for 30 minutes before the dismissal time, then I quietly sneak out and run home 🤫.
