We all know that Short story, is a brief fictional prose narrative that is shorter than a novel and that usually deals with only a few characters.

But some maybe don't know that the short story has integrated elements to make it complete. Let's explore these elements that can help us how to make a beautiful and pleasant short story.

They are;

Plot - This is the sequence of events in the story .

It begins with an idea of a problem or an unresolved situation. The middle shows us the events that arise from this problem and The end of the story brings a resolution to this problem.

Conflict - This is the problem or dilemma that is presented in the story.

Do you know that a conflict, there is no story. An internal conflict is one that the character struggles with by himself. His dilemma arises from his own set of limitations or difficulties. But, on the other hand, an external conflict is one that puts two or more characters against one another. It may also be a struggle between a character and the forces of nature.

Setting - This is the period of time when the story happens and the place where it happens.

Usually, the setting in a short story is limited only to a particular time and place .

Characters - These are the people involved in the development of the story.

However, they don't always have to be people. Some short stories that involve fantasy may include plants, animals, or non living things as characters. A protagonist is a character who represents the forces of good while the antagonist is one who causes or presents a difficulty as the story develop .

Theme - a short story reveals some kind of truth about the way the world is.

It points out a part of reality in the way human beings live. All other elements of the story may contribute toward the development of the theme.

Language or Style - this elements show how the author uses or manipulate the Language he/she uses.

I mean this part is for you, how you make your story well, good, nice and how you make it beautiful, how you make it more catchy, its all yours.

This All Elements gives voice to the one telling the story. It may be limited or omniscient. The limited point of view, such as the first person or third person limited omniscient, does not allow the readers to see everything that the characters think and feel. Like the first person of view, the readers depend only on what the narrator. On the contrary, the omniscient point of view is all knowing, thus it gives the readers the opportunity to see through the characters "thoughts and feelings".

Hope this helps especially those aspiring to write a story.

Good morning and God bless us All.

Love lots
