A glimpse of the life of a mountain soldier (regroup)

The lady was talking to two men down to their farmhouse. They are armed with a long gun, the lady pointing to where she is hiding. I was so shocked that the two men were headed towards me with their guns ready to fire. I back off from the door and tried to find a way out through the wall when suddenly somebody hit the door hard and crashed down. I pointed my pistol towards the open door ready to fire for someone to get through it.

One big guy geared and arm with an M16 rifle appeared, he is wearing a black bonnet that covers his face, he pointed the gun towards me. I tried to pull the trigger of my gun but my strength seems left my body at that moment. I am freezing to the floor waiting for my life to an end. I cried silently and surrender my life to death already. I close my eyes tight waiting for the guy to shoot me dead but suddenly something sticky drops on my face that wakes me up from that nightmares! Alas! What a bad dream is that. Thanks to the house lizard who happen to jump on my face and snatched me out of my scary dream. I'm sweating so bad that it drips to my chin and wets my scarf around my neck.

The sun rays get through the broken bamboo wall of the farmhouse straight to my eyes. I sit down to prepare myself to get out when suddenly the old lady called me from the downside. I try to stand but lose control due to so many scratches and wound in my legs, I didn't notice this last night but now the pain was tearing my leg's muscles, there is a lot of small but deep wounds sore all over my legs and some part of my body and arms.

The lady approach and told me that two men are looking for me. She said they are wearing just like mine. A camouflage pants with a civilian T-shirt. I heard someone call my alias and my heart beat fast. It's him, our second platoon leader. They are alive! I thank God though I am not into prayer ever since I joined the movement.

"How are you, buddy?" My comrade greeted me. I look back at them and ask the same question. They keep silent for a moment and take a deep breath. They too had many bruises and dirty as I am and hunger were noticed on their face. In a few moments, the old lady called us to eat so we hurriedly walked down to the farmhouse.

After our breakfast, we thank the lady for her generosity and plead with her not to tell anyone that we passed by her place. The lady assured us that no one will know our whereabouts.

Right after that moment, we fled away from the place through the mountain. While on our way my two comrades told me their plight during the siege.

When the gun started to fire towards the camp and our leader shoot down to death, we crawl side by side through the woods. We fired back to the enemy ones for a while to cover us, we were almost hit by the second bomb that was dropped by the helicopter, thankfully it exploded first when it hit the trees and we get to cover ourselves to a thick boulder behind the big trees.

A few shrapnel hit us but that can't stop us from escaping. We also had a face-to-face encounter with the military troops but because we know that we had no chance against the enemy we hide and run the other way. Some soldiers tried to after us for a few hours. Luckily they got lost when we reach the river, or should we say the government soldiers stop to pursue us already.

After that encounter and regrouping with my left troops, we decided to return to base to report everything. We need also to treat our wounds. If only we brought with us our backpacks we have something to use. Unfortunately, everything was left behind.

Did you know that the Army called Monica's troops "the squad seven?" I'm sorry but I did not dig in so much about that during our chitchats because we had many errands at that time to be done.

That is just a small piece of Monica's life story when she was once a Soldier in the mountain. I will try to collect more of her life stories in action and on how they survived in their kind of living.

Thank you guys for reading my article, I hope I didn't bore you. Until next time again!

A soldier is our hero. It's not easy to be one as their other feet are in grave already. It's like giving their life to protect us.

They weren't the pro faction, they are the anti gov't but they have a good heart too if I base my judgment on the way they treated us when they get to visit our village before.

We can imply from the story given that it's not really easy to be a soldier. I just feel sad thinking about people hurt or dying because of war.
