Humanity versus Religion

I have always been a tireless advocate of religious liberty or what I can alternatively call "free thinking". As reasonable as my points are, the position of someone more intelligent, more powerful and more organized than mere human beings, still remains exalted and adored. And that is God! He may have His reasons for all the disparities the world over has been made to come by, religion-wise.

How do we see a world where everyone practises just one religion? How do we see a world where all its habitants numbering about seven (7) billion all do the same thing every day till eternity? How do we see a world where rights to liberty are misconstrued to be anti-God or evil? I see boredom. I see deliberate attempt to shut down human reasoning capacity, which is inherently evil in itself.

God is One. God is Love. It takes Him nothing to have made everyone, practisants of a religion if He wants it so. Allowing for religious differences is evident enough that man despising fellow man on grounds of religious intolerance is sickening. It may be understood that man is antagonistic to God's real and unbiased intention and deeds.

The sacredness of human life and humanity which naturally should be the central purpose for living on the earth surface is already battered and that should matter to us. History records that human lives – both past and continuing –have so much suffered baseless religious wars and chaos. Such a narrative alone should be a 'turn off' for anyone who is still desirous of religious fanatism. When you detest your fellow man because they practise another religion that is alien to yours, what would you do to that atheist who is not so convinced of God's existence? You kill him, right?

In Africa where I was born, none of these organized religions started from our midst, yet no other continent takes our position when it comes to religiousness. In the same vein, we would rather make money illegitimately just for pilgrimage and other "show offs" than feeding the next neighbour who is hungry. In my continent, we still believe that when we kill fellow Africans, it is possible for money to be falling like rain. When we shout to God every morning at the discomfort and inconvenience of our neighbors, we do not do it to serve any God anywhere, the ultimate end of all these prayer requests are mostly self-centered. I do not know when prayer requests are the same as worshipping God.
