A pastor told me not to listen to worldly music music in respective of the song as far as the song is not attributed to God of Gods name was not called in the music, and I began to wander why would a pastor tell me not to listen to worldly song simply because Gods name was not called in the song or the song was not attributed to God is this true that its a sin.

One thing the pastor fail to understand is that there is a reason God allow all genre of music to exist in the first place.

Humans were created with the ability to choose or the ability to have a choice and also the ability to think and make decision, and, with that alone show that all type of music genre must be allow by God for human to choose from and make their decision on which particular music they wants to listen to or accept, another example of why human must listen to any type of music he/she feels, take religion for example God Gave Human choice to believe on anything they want to believe in and that is why we have different religion today starting from Christianity, to Islam, to Judaism, to traditional African religion, to Buddha, to Hindu e.t.c.

Now let go back music and human have the right to listen to any music music he want or like.

Example is Oritse femi: songs like, elewon which talka about the Government and how the government have sold all the oil well in Niger delta to British companies and the people of the Niger delta are left with oil spillage, bad road, no infrastructure, poor education system, insecurity e.t.c will you tell me not to listen to this music because its doesn't attribute the song to God or it not a christian music after listening to the content and transparency of the music.

Another example

Lucky dube the way it is, a song that talks about someone who was successful by others and after been successful he refuse to recognise those that made him to be successful, not knowing that the people who made him to be successful are the most important and also if he crumble in and falls back to be a poor man, that he will come back to meet the same people that made him to be successful. And lucky said " be good to the people on your way up the ladder cause you will meet them on your way down. will you tell me not to listen to this music because its doesn't attribute the song to God or it not a christian music after listening to the content and transparency of the music.

So I think there is a reason for reggae, hip hop, rap, rnb, gospel, etc. And God allowing all these genre of music is for man kind to have a choice.

This stuff has really brought serious arguements among Christians... I so much love.music especially hip-hop but whenever I here about this statement, it's like I don't even know if I'm compromising my faith by listening to them.. I hope I'm not though

That's the problem with some pastors, they seem to automatically attribute "worldliness" with pop music, although the bible clearly indicates love for material things and bad attitude as what's truly worldly. This is a good post. One that can make us awakened.

The thing is that most pastors don't understand they just feel because it don't call God then its not good to hear

I can't really judge, but there are some worldly music that can corrupt your soul and there are some that teaches good morals.

There are different genres of music, I think the lyrics is what differenciate Christian songs to the wordly ones.
