At 75th Day
Date: February 9, 2022
What a sleepless and blessed Wednesday. Gosh, it was literally a sleepless night yesterday. I never even had a chance to take a nap due to busyness in preparing the foods we need to take. Before I forgot, today is the day where my Lola (grandmother) was born. It's her 75th birthday and Mama plans to surprise her with a small celebration. My Lolo "grandfather" wishes on his birthday that Lola will experience the same celebration or much better before he dies. Those words serve as the last wish of Lolo to all his children and Mama promises and tries to fulfill that one that she even saves and keeps money for this day's expenses.
Yesterday around 5:00 in the evening Mama brought a whole pig that is 50 kilos worth exclusive for lechon viands that my uncles do the thing, especially grilling it to cope up with perfect texture. The lechon was set and ready to cook at 6:00 pm until 1:00 in the morning where it is fully cooked and well done. Aside from lechon, we prepared one dessert which was spaghetti and other stuff. We are all exhausted but the excitement in our heart overflows, specifically the kids who dwell on us being sleepless hahaha.
Our target plan to go is 2:00 am for the reason we will be able to attain the serenade for Lola in her churchmates and I must say we arrived on time after traveling three and half hours. What I love traveling in dawn time is less traffic and I can more appreciate the streets, buildings and overview in peaceful surrounding. If there is a good thing, well there will be a bad thing also, like embracing the cold breeze even though I wore a hoodie and pants , coldness still there. Unfortunately, the rain falls as we never expect and reminds you that the car we rent is an open space. We just built and put wooden chairs on both sides and tied it up tightly.
Lola was so speechless because she never expected that we would come over just to celebrate her 75th birthday. Some render birthday messages and I am one of them. That makes me nervous and shy because that is the first time I have had one. So, I just let my heart speak and how awesome she is in raising her 9 children by giving great lessons and teaching that Mama imparts to us. What I really admire in Lola is her giving and generous heart, willing to help those needed one which Mama inherited.
Mama's land of birth is abundant in natural resources, specifically waterfalls but today it is no longer like that because of the typhoon Yolanda that wrecked almost everything. Slowly, the community starts to beautify again which is a good result. One of the reasons why the children excitedly wanted to go, is because they wanted to experience and witness how true it is. Suddenly the weather didn't cooperate as the rains continued to fall, resulting in a mini flood at naging kape ang tubig. Boresome kills me as there is no network connection in the area even though I want to read articles I can't. So, I ended up sleeping when I felt my eyes shut.
Time check 6:30 in the evening and still we are travelling back home because we are stuck in heavy traffic that I hate the most. By the way, I'm typing this one while travelling to make something productive and when I get home I'll surely stay at the site to articles and continue tomorrow co'z I still need rest to catch the lack of sleep.
Happy to see you in sponsors block❣️
