Hey guys, sorry I have not been very active on here. I have been really busy preparing for my exams . Anyways as I was doing my afternoon devotion a song kept playing in my head .This article was inspired by that song by santan Dave titled “Lesley”.
So basically the song was about Dave telling his therapist about a friend named Lesley. Who lost her life because she was in an abusive relationship. She was with this guy named Jason who got her pregnant, abandoned her and then started sleeping with her friend. In the song Dave spoke about how Lesley had big dreams and how all that dream had crumbled to point that she doesn’t recognize her self anymore.
Dave went further to speak about how she is struggling and trying to get back at old flings she had in the past, calling all her exes to see if she could get anyone of them to come back and take care of her and her unborn child. It may seem like these things don’t happen in real life but they actually do.
what is an abusive relationship
An abusive relationship is a relationship in which one partner treats the other partner or partners ( they can be more the one ) with disrespect, violence and any other negative kind of character. Most people think abusive relationship is just all about physical abuse on one’s partner well , that is a huge part of it but people are abused when their rights in a relationship are taking away from them, or when they are blackmailed emotionally into doing things they are against or even when they are lied to or deceived by their partners.
Contrary to popular beliefs males can be in abusive relationships and they can get abused physically. The only thing is often time most of us don’t talk about these; things it might look damaging to the male ego thereby questioning our validity as a man which shouldn’t be so.
The scary part is everyone of us reading this article either knows a person who has been through an abusive relationship or is going through one currently . If you are reading this and you arr currently in one or just left one it’s not your fault that your partner is like that :I just hope you feel better knowing that you are better-off by yourself and that person that abused you doesn’t deserve you. And for those currently in a toxic or abusive relationship I beg you my friend please leave, the time to leave Is now take this as a sign or at least talk to someone who can help so they can help you leave. This kinds of relationship can be very risky and can lead to death. You might be wondering how you can recognize an abusive relationship, well here are some signs :
If your partner is constantly shouting at you for the slightest thing .
if your spouse usually disregard your feelings and act like you don’t have a say .
If they treat you like they own you and you can never do anything without telling them.
if your partner constantly hits you with rage : please leave now!!!
If they always blackmail you emotionally causing you to do things you don’t want to do .
please if you notice any of these signs please seek help or talk to someone who can help like a pastor ,a professional or an elderly family member. Stop cutting the slacks for them stop saying they would change they mostly never do don’t risk your life like Lesley.
I would leave you with the song listen to it and tell me what you think
