Am I still here?? Lead image source https://pixabay.com/images/id-4300600/ I'm writing this article to guide some newbies who might come across it. If you're not a newbie, you're welcome to continue reading. From my introduction article, here, https://read.cash/@Yinye_xo/why-am-i-here-2a82e76e I stated that I heard about this site from @happyboy. I got started and have been making some 'tiny' earnings. These 'tiny' earnings pushed me to do more. Do beyond what I expected I could do. But can one keep up? Challenges I'm facing I've always been a girl who gets up each day, does her chores and entertains herself with movies and music for the rest of the day. Since I started writing, my brain has been working overtime. Constantly thinking of an idea of a new article. The first thought in the morning and the last one before I sleep. I realized that I always wanted a perfect article. My punctuation marks, signs, every single thing must be remarkable. The need for that 'perfect' article makes my brain go numb. Each day, hundreds of people publish new articles. Articles so good they make me wonder. How did they think of these? How did they write an article this long without losing the context? I go through my past articles, seeing the same average time. 2 minutes, 3 minutes. I often managed to get it to 4 minutes. Though I see lovely comments from those nice enough to read and engage in my articles plus upvotes and sponsorship, I can't help but look and compare mine to those of others. I constantly complain to other writers. Why has the random rewarder never visited my articles? Aren't they good enough? What exactly am I missing? I came across an article few days back by @gaftekloriginal That was when I found out that it isn't just crypto related articles that get the most tips. I just need a 'hit' article. The first article that'll catch the attention of therandomrewarder and the likes of other high ranking tippers. So I keep asking myself Will this be my hit article? Or will it be the next one? I guess this was the way I waited for my admission into the university before I finally got it. My favourite line was "Maybe the wait will be worth it" But can I wait longer? Trying so hard to be optimistic but it's really hard. It has never been easy. Ideas This is the most tedious part. Hours and hours go by and no idea comes up. The light bulb above my head is most probably experiencing partial contact. It just doesn't want to shine bright. No "Eureka moment" seem to be forthcoming. A whole lot of writers use events which occur during their daily activities as topics for their articles. ***Writer A*** was involved in a difficult situation. He couldn't pay his transport fare because he didn't know he didn't have it on him. Then the story is titled Good Samaritan because he was helped by a total stranger. ***Writer B*** was in a bad mood due to her exams coming up which was accompanied with a lot of stress. She listens to a song which best explains her mood. Then she shares the experience here under a very catchy title. Such beautiful ideas. How do I create such ideas when I'm at home all day everyday? Do I create interesting article ideas from just doing chores? Well I don't think it's supposed to be this hard. Definitely not. I haven't published an article for about two weeks now. So much for someone that wants to be noticed by other writers and high ranking tippers. LOL. But I guess these struggles are signs that I'm pushing through. And my sponsorships are beautiful improvements. The upvotes and comments got me this far and will still take me further. So with or without these struggles, I won't give up. Never! Heyyy, it's been so long. Please bear with me😭💔. I've missed so much too. Well, I'm back now ❤️ Love @Yinye_xo 💞 September 20,2021. 18:30

Not all Superheroes wear capes Lead image source https://pixabay.com/images/id-3953275/ From the title, you'll most probably have idea of what the article is about. I've always loved Superhero movies. In my family, there were constant arguments about which production was better: Marvel or DC Image source https://pixabay.com/images/id-1239698/ Most times, I couldn't even differentiate between them. But I knew most (if not all) superheroes. I was marveled by their mystical abilities and often wished they were real. They would've spiced up our planet, Earth ( maybe also cause some havoc here and there lol) I would love to trade places with Louis Lane and have Superman take me above the clouds to bask in the sunlight. Or Iris, so I can go back and forth with The Flash between geographical zones within a second. Diving into the deepest oceans with Aquaman would have been a lovely experience. Then I realized why I didn't need them, when I have one right here at home. My very own superhero. My mum. `Meet my amazing sponsors. Love you both 😊❤️` I've always pondered what's its like to have a child(ren). Having to clothe them, feed them, change diapers twice/ thrice everyday for about two(2) years. I've always imagined myself living in a wealthy home while doing these things for them but it still doesn't seem easy. I have younger cousins and whenever they are around, it's my duty to attend to their needs. It's really tasking and tiring especially when they stay for days even weeks. So how is it to be a mother of five? In a non-wealthy home? Only a superhero can handle such. No one knows that she also possesses mystical abilities. She handles all her activities and never lags behind. Who without superpowers can run over three different hustles, attends church activities and still cook for her family? She deprives herself of comfort and extravagances in order to provide us with maximum comfort and ease. This isn't to say our relationship is always rosy. She's known for showing tough love. She told me a story about when I was younger. Well, growing up, we were not allowed to take anything from anybody ( family friends inclusive). As a young girl, I was outside and a neighbour offered me a bisciut called "Noreos". I took the packet and ran up to my parents to show them. What I got was not what I expected. I was "given" three tiny strokes of cane( which was actually not really painful at all) but I cried my eyes out. The next day, I saw the same neighbour and she called out to me, "Onyi, how are you?" *Onyi / Onyibaby is my nickname at home.* I was so angry because she was the reason for my being flogged the day before. I replied at the top of my voice, "Don't call me oh, don't call my name. It's because of you gave me biscuit that my mum beat me yesterday" She was so shocked at my outburst. I laughed when I heard this, I couldn't believe that I was this confrontational. It was a lesson learnt. These story and many more have made the bond between my mum and I stronger than ever. A bond stronger than the one between Batman and his butler, Alfred. She can neither push cars away to save a trapped child nor hold buildings up so that hostages can escape. But my mum pushes us to achieve our goals. She holds us up when things seem to be falling apart. I've always wanted to acquire a skill and hair styling was my thing. My mum has always been my lab rat (and my brother). I try out every style with her hair. I told her I wanted to learn more but she was against it and advised me to consider tailoring. She made me understand that since I'd be going to school soon, I'll find students that'll cherish it more. And I'd find both male and female customers. In all, she persuaded me to give it a chance It was then I compared her powers to Doctor Stranger's because she predicted the future. I don't see myself quitting tailoring anytime soon as I have a lot of things to learn. Looking back now, I think I enjoyed my mum a whole lot more when I was younger. Whenever I fell sick, she would buy all the junks she wouldn't buy a normal day. And silly me, I'd reject all of them and request for pap. *Pap is fermented cereal pudding popularly made in Nigeria.* I could go on and on. But from these, I figured out that I have a cape-less, wingless Superhero, one without claws and weapons. She's my superhero of all time. I couldn't ask for anyone else. Hey lovelies, how are y'all doing??? Do you have a SOAT (Superhero of all time)?? Let's find out in the comment section ❤️ It's really late.. Got to go Xoxo💞 Love @Yinye_xo September 8, 2021. 23:30

Beauty: is it just a trap? Photo by **Zachary DeBottis** from **Pexels** https://www.pexels.com/@zachtheshooter?utm_content=attributionCopyText&utm_medium=referral&utm_source=pexels Every generation, the definition of beauty changes. Years ago, beauty was a tall figure, little *ss and small breasts with thin lips. Years later, it became thick girls, big butts and full lips. At different occasions, we see some celebrities looking darker than they truly are. Then we say they got a "summer tan". Or a black lady looking extremely lighter and the person is praised for "glowing". When in fact, she bleached her skin in order to please her audience. At a time, the rate at which women were undergoing surgery to achieve fuller lips was really high. Some apply lip liners above the corners of their lips to make it appear fuller. Boys with health issues push themselves to gym because they want to achieve the "buff" look that drives the ladies crazy. A lot goes on just to suit the modern day definition of beauty. *But have we stopped to think?* *Is it sort of a trap?* You're trapped in the illusion that you are not perfect the way you are. Trapped in the opinions of people (both strangers and acquaintances, enemies and friends) *The difference between pizza and your opinion is that I asked for pizza ~ Anonymous* At times, we find ourselves making the mistake of talking down on people's look. We find ourselves saying, "That guy is too short, he's not my spec" Or "She's really skinny and ugly, she needs more skin" How God comes in. God created everything in this world. All fingers are not equal, so there's no way all guys on earth will be tall or all the girls will have thick bodies. Not all will have clear skin and the perfect pointed nose. At a point in my life, I hated the way I looked. On various occasions, I was told me that my nose was big and when I get pregnant in future, it'd be twice the size and I'd look horrible. I was also told that my head was really huge. I was never happy with myself. Those were the only things I saw whenever I looked into the mirror. Those statements trapped me in a corner to the point that I promised myself I would get a nose job as soon as I got rich. (So glad that I'm over that now lol) People still change themselves when they know that trends will always come and go. Why make permanent changes when situations are always temporary. The song by Alessia Cara- "Scars to your beautiful" sheds more light on this. As part of the lyrics says; `You don't have to change a thing the world could change it's heart` Surgery might not be the 'trending topic' in the next few years. So why make a change that might keep you happy for a while? When there's a new trend, people tend to mock or insult those still living in the old one. *So what's the meaning of beauty?* Over time, I understood that beauty has more to do with the character than looks. Outer looks doesn't define beauty. Funnily enough, most people who get into relationships solely because their significant other was pretty or handsome were often disappointed by their character and attitude. They'd say, "I don't know what I saw in her. Beauty without brains". Whether we like it or not, people will always have their "type" or "spec". But others should not be termed "ugly" because they can't meet the standards. So let's not dwell or be trapped in the society's definition of beauty. But bask in the glory of good character. This is my entry for the prompt "Beauty" by @JonicaBradley I hope you enjoyed it💞. Why don't you join in, write your article and submit it to the Promptly jonica community 💗. Can't wait to see yours. Why am I here?? People might be wondering. Who on earth presents an introduction after writing six(6) articles. It's like you introducing yourself to people at a new school when you've been there for a month or thereabout. Weird right ??...lol Anyways, My name is Onyinye. And from my previous articles, you probably know some details about me. I'm the last born in my family. And I was never really a person interested in writing or any English related exercise. I love mathematics...it's fun What brought me here Well, I've been at home for about five months, waiting for the resumption date of "The university of first choice". I decided to acquire a skill ( tailoring) and I was quite a quick learner. But I kept on thinking of a means of income because I'd need new items when it's time to resume. In my family, we share ideas and new information. I got to know about read.cash from my immediate older brother. He had just returned back home from his tutorial that day. He said to me, `Onyinye, a guy (Happy boy) came today to talk about a site. Whenever you write an article, you get paid a huge amount of money` Disclaimer: my brother loves exaggerating 😂. I continually disturbed him to get the name of the site. Who doesn't love money? My first day here It was actually at night. He sent the link to me then I signed up. I published my first article that same night. It took a lot to put it out and was quite impressed with myself. I slept off dreaming about the million of dollars dropping into the wallet. I got nothing 😂💔. Nada I came across an article and found out that I have to associate with other writers on the site. I didn't really get to do that because something tragic happened back at home. I resumed three weeks later. That was when I got more insight about read.cash. With the help of @HappyBoy , I was able to understand my way around here. Who is @TheRandomRewarder ? Apparently, he's the one that tips article of most writers on this site. But he has his **RULES.** Who is the person behind " therandomrewarder"? Is he really a bot or a human being? I guess I'll never tell. Will I continue here? Before I started writing here, I was focused on the monetary gain. I had already fantasized counting thousands of naira (maybe hundreds of thousands) *Naira is the official currency of Nigeria* But on getting here, it was totally not as expected. Till this minute, I don't know if I will be focused on a particular genre. I've learnt a lot from various articles, ideas and experiences. My vocabulary is better than before. It would take a lot of determination and motivation to continue writing. But a journey of a thousand miles begins with a step. So I'll see where the step takes me and hopefully, I'd get more recognised with time. Heyy, I'm so glad I'm here. The comments are always on my previous posts are always amazing. And I look forward to sharing more articles with y'all 💞 Love @Yinye_xo September 5, 2021. 00:50

My child, my legacy. *Heyy y'all... Happy new month❤️✨ I've always loved the month of September. It's my second best month (after February of course 😂). Let's just hope for the best in this new month 💞* A child is a blessing; whether it's a girl or a boy. Why is a child born? That's a million dollar question. A child is born for a thousand reasons; Procreation According to Genesis 9:7. “And you, be ye fruitful, and multiply; bring forth abundantly in the earth, and multiply therein.” Provision of company to parents As a result of social pressure ;amongst other reasons In most cases, as the cycle of life goes, parents will give birth to a child, train and take care of the child. Then when the parents become old, the child will be grown enough to take care of his parents. I came across an article by @HappyBoy recently about living forever. He mentioned three ways write a book sing a song Raise a child The last part was the best part to me.By having a child, your name lives on for years to come. For instance, Michael Otedola was a former governor of Lagos state, Nigeria. By having a son( a very successful one at that),Femi Otedola, his legacy still lives on long after he was gone It was like coincidence to me because the very next day. I heard my mum talk about something similar to it. She was telling her sister a story of a man who died without having children. Apparently, he was a very wealthy man. He was married without children for 25 years. And rumours went round that he was impotent because he was involved in occultic practices. Well, his property was taken by his family, leaving his wife with nothing. 25 years?? I asked myself why he didn't adopt a child if he needed one so much. It was then that I reminisced the case of my aunt. My aunt never had a child. When she offered various pieces of advice considering adoption, she turned a deaf ear. She didn't think of long term challenges. She's old now without a child to take care of her and pass on her legacy. Then I realized that people probably had tons of reasons for avoiding adoption. Solid faith This is the most common reason amongst couples who grew up as devout Christians. And it really difficult to adopt a child. They strongly believe in "God's time is the best", so they won't consider adopting one as it would seem like they've lost faith in God. Shame In the society we find ourselves in, some parents find it indeed shameful to adopt children. But most times, they are not to blame as they are often encounter people with stupid questions. Like; Why did you adopt a child? Fear This is obviously not because of horror movies like "Orphan" but tales of real life experiences. Couples are often times, worried about the child's background story and events which led to the child being put up for adoption. In some cases, rumours are spread that a child can be from a witchcraft lineage especially in a situation where the couples are faced with challenges. Couples also avoid adoption for fear that the biological mother will return to claim the child. Although, this happens when one undergoes illegal adoption processes. Culture/ Traditional beliefs In the Nigerian culture, when a man is unable to get children ( especially male children), it's a significant issue. Take a traditional Igbo man as an example; he inherits his father's property and has to pass it on to his children. This should give more reason to adopt one but it is forbidden to in the culture. These reasons are most often never based on factual information but on archaic claims. So back to the beginning; A child is a blessing, whether it's a boy or girl, biological or adopted. But whatever happens, the child must be raised so that one's name will never die. Did y'all miss me??? I'm sure you did (lol😂). I was caught was loads of things. Who else loves the month of September? I hope y'all enjoy this article and give lovely feedbacks. Xoxo 💞 Love @Yinye_xo September 2, 2021. 8:10

Never listen to the small devil. Procrastination... Putting things off to another time I've always compared procrastination to laziness. And came to a conclusion that procrastination had little or nothing to do with laziness. In my opinion, procrastination is like a disease. It's like the music worm that got into SpongeBob's head and refused to leave. It gets settled like a second skin. While growing up, I was always putting things off to later. On various occasions, I'd not wash my school uniform till late in the night. My sister constantly complained to my parents, she did not understand why I was like that (Honestly, I don't understand either). I'd promise her that I'll change but it'll always be for a while then I'd go back to it. Then one day she told me a story. My sister attended an all girls' missionary school, so the head of the school was a reverend sister. *Well back to the story.* The Reverend sister was fed up with students coming to school with torn and badly patched uniform. Then she said to them, " Big things started off as little things. Most of the big holes in clothes were once little tears here and there. You were supposed to fix them at that point in time. Then the small devil visited you and gave you reasons to do it later. It was up to you to ignore the small devil. Instead, from what I'm seeing, you welcomed his idea whole- heartedly. Well, you all must buy new uniforms." That year, the price of a full uniform set was quite pricey. So I could imagine the number of parents of the students that kept trooping into the school to make complaints. Then my sister proceeded to say that whenever I put things off, the small devil is talking to me and I always listen. That really got me thinking. It was a big problem I had to deal with. I wouldn't read my books until it was time for my exams. Then proceed with the 'fire brigade' approach. And whenever it went downhill, I'd say, " Well, I'm a teenager and teenagers don't have regrets" Thinking back now, I've realized that I didn't regret the things I did rather the things I didn't do.. One thing I've noticed, procrastination gets in the way of getting other things done. As a teacher once said," when you have something to do and you decide to procrastinate until the last minute, it causes a ripple effect across other events planned for that day or days to come" I didn't understand at first, so she explained further. She said," let's take a boarding school student as an example. There are assigned chores to each student. If a student wakes up and she dawdles while everyone else gets their chores done. By the end of the day, she'd have noticed that while everyone had an organized day, hers was the exact opposite. The reason is, while her mates were doing their chores, she felt she had enough time to do hers later. So for the rest of the day, she kept doing things at the wrong time." Overcoming procrastination can be just as hard as overcoming an addiction. It takes a lot of determination, will power, time management and importantly, self discipline. In this generation, there are a lot of opportunities at our disposal. Opportunities within arm's length and all we have to do is reach out. So wherever you are,it's high time you got up and focus on unlocking your full potentials. Heyy dearies, how've you been? The weekend is almost here, what do you have planned? Well, see you in my next article.Byee Love @Yinye_xo August 27, 2021. 21:30

Why giving up feels so easy. Have you ever wondered why the streets keeps getting filled with jobless people? Days after days, months after months and years after years.Have you gone through the pain of a failed plan? Millions of the people roaming jobless on the streets are lazy. But a fraction of them are people who got tired of trying. They hit rock bottom but didn't realize that the only other way they could go was UP. School is a major factor. In Nigeria, a student who gets admission into a federal university is praised and most times, considered 'lucky'. Sometimes, it's really not about how hard one prepared for the exams. A whole lot of students don't get into their desired universities. Let's take the story of a family friend of mine, Francis, as an example. Francis was a really bright student. He was known by everyone for that. He surpassed his peers academic wise. Francis displayed great brilliance till he was done with secondary school. When he got to his last year in secondary school, he started preparing for his external examinations. Unfortunately, he didn't get into the university on his first sitting. The next year, he tried again and failed. His parents did not have the huge amount of money needed to study in a private university. He had always wanted to study medicine so he kept trying. He sat for the exams each year for seven years. At that time, most of his mates were already out of their various universities. He finally got in after the seventh year and studied the course of his dreams *What would you do if you found yourself in this situation?* I know for a fact that most people would either give up on the idea of school and drop out. Or try a different course. Through out Francis' years at home, he kept asking himself two questions. *Is it wise to take this exam again?* *Would it be better for me to give up and learn a trade?* When faced with such questions, people tend to look for the easy way out. Let's look at another scenario. Mama Nkechi as she was popularly known on my street was a "Yamburger" seller( Yamburger is a local delicacy made by dipping pieces of yam into beans mix, then fried). All of a sudden, she ventured into hair dressing by the roadside. She did that for a while but had to stop because she was in the way of a major road construction. Mama Nkechi was not seen for years and the next time she showed up, she was a head marketer of new brand of products, "Longrich" Can you see the differences and similarities in these two scenarios? In Francis' case, he didn't give up and eventually got what he wanted. If mama Nkechi had continued with her "Yamburger" business, would she have reached the point she got to at the end? But in these two cases, one thing is clear. They never gave up. Life gave them lemons, they made Lemonade. They overcame the hurdles in life in order to remain in the race. What to do when at the verge of quitting. Pray to God. God can fix anything. Even during good times, we have to speak to God let alone during hard times. Always stay motivated Take responsibility for your actions Identify the reason behind that goal. Most times, people forget the reason why they pursued a dream. The pain involved while chasing their goals push them to make wrong decisions. When faced with difficult challenges, remember the purpose when you were at your all-time high and re-strategize Then bounce back twice stronger than before Hey lovelies, how are y'all doing today? Today went by so fast. I had to catch a train to meet up. Lol Love @Yinye_xo August 25, 2021. 18:50

Life as a Last-born *Heyy guys, thanks for the love on my last article... Hope you enjoy this too❤️* Growing up, we had lots of rules at home. A million, if you may ask me. As a family of seven(mum and dad included), chores were evenly distributed. When I was a lot younger, I really enjoyed being the last born. Everyone called me the baby of the house. They still call me that till this day 😂. Anyways, I never took part in any of the chores. All I had to do was wake-up, eat, play and sleep. Those were the best years of my life. As I grew older, I started washing my underwear and socks. The joy in my heart knew no bounds. I'd wash a pair of socks for a whole hour😂. By the time, I got to my last year in primary school, I had already started washing my school uniforms. I regret the day I offered to do the dishes. On that very afternoon, my older sister was really tired. She had just finished cooking our lunch. I had asked on several occasions to be allowed to do the dishes but always got a "no". I wanted to do it so badly that day but I was so sure that she'd not give in. I guess she was really tired, because she finally succumbed. I ran to the kitchen like a lion ready to devour his prey. I washed the plates like my life depended on it. When I was done, I was so happy. It was written all over my face. My sister was really impressed. She kept saying, "You tried ooh". So from time to time, she'd allow me to do the dishes. Each time, I'd do it with do much joy and eagerness. At a time, I got tired of it but by then, it was already too late. It had become an assigned duty. That was when I realized that it was all a trick. Parents always have a soft spot for last borns. My siblings took advantage of this. I remember when my brother was still in secondary school. He didn't have a phone at the time while most of his classmates did. On several occasions, he'd say to me, "Onyi, please go and meet daddy and tell him to get me a new phone. And when he buys it, I'll always allow to play games on it. I promise. But don't tell him that I was the one that sent you ooh" After summoning courage, I'd walk up to my dad and deliver the message. It was always so obvious that I was sent by my older brother. Finally he got his new phone. One day, I walked up to my brother while he was using his phone and told him that I wanted to play games on it. His reply was so painful. He said, " Can't you see that I'm using it. So you expect me to leave the stuff I'm doing and give you my phone". Then I replied, "If I had not kept on disturbing daddy, would you have this phone" . Then I walked away. Thinking back now, I guess it was wrong of me to make such a request while he was using it. But a child will always be a child 😂 You know that saying " Once bitten, twice shy". That was not the case for me because that was not the only time I was played. This time around, it was my immediate older brother. He broke a rule in the house and my dad found out. My dad did not know the person that did it. My brother came to me begging. He told me be to take the blame and added that he would give me 20 naira. *I know what you're thinking right now 😂* *20 NAIRA????* *Honestly, I can't believe I accepted that stupid offer😂* Anyways, I took the blame and my dad scolded me. Normally, I'd cry when I'm admonished but I didn't because I knew I wasn't the one that did it. Later on, I went to my brother asking for my "pain fee". I couldn't believe my ears. He told me that he did not have any money. At that point I didn't know what to do. I couldn't go to report to my dad, because he'd be really disappointed in me. I cried that day and swore never to take the blame for anyone's action. These are memories I'll never forget😂. So tell me if you're the last born in your family and how you've coped as one. I hope you enjoyed this article. Love @Yinye_xo August 24, 2021 15:00

The "Good" girl. "Don't tell her the stuffs that went down during the weekend, she's still a "good" girl", Natasha said to Adriana Growing up in the society (especially in high schools) these days, no one wants to be labeled as "the good boy/girl". Whether or not one has strict parents, that label is a no no. Some don't ever go out for parties and other activities, but for some reasons, are part of the popular and bad clique. Why? Being the "good" girl makes one miss out on planned parties and gatherings among ones peers. She is not involved in the fun. She never knows what's going on in the school. Most times, she's not even on any social media platform. To her "trending" peers, she is never to be associated with because she's a bore. The "good" girl displays great morals. Teachers and other elderly people in the society love her. She's the girl other parents want in their children's corner. So she loathed by her mates. To her peers, she's a show-off and an awful pretender. All these makes the "good" girl fed up. She's sick of being the last person to find out that there was a party a week before. She wants to be noticed by all means. Being "good" has left her in the dark for a very long time. So what's her next step? She turns bad. It's like a new phase of her life. She can finally spread her wings. She suddenly has a lot of friends and was involved in interesting conversations. At long last, she was finally part of the "trending" crew. *Are you a "good" girl?* *Do you feel left out?* *Are you hated for no reason at all?* Labels have different effects on young girls(and boys too). Being the "good" girl is not a disease. Matter of fact, it's something to be proud of. In a high school setting, the "good" girl is never one with juvenile regrets. Her friends are always real ones. She's not judged by her "boring" lifestyle. So... If you're that girl, it's time to brace up, hold your head up high and place the label as a crown on your head. Because, trust me, you are perfect the way you are. Hey y'all, it's a bit late. Staying at home is super boring 😂💔. What do you have planned out for the rest of the weekend? Something nice I hope.
