What Just Happened?

 A blessed Sunday to all my readers and friends.

Every Sunday we always attend the 8:00 mass. I prefer to hear mass first thing on Sunday so that if ever there will be other things to do or trips to make, I will not be in a hurry. 

If ever we have a planned early trip on a Sunday, we always attend an evening mass on Saturday or the so called anticipated Mass for Sunday.

Today is no different from other Sundays. We attend the 8:00 mass. After the mass we went straight to the mall. It was previously planned on Friday that we will go there after the mass to have an ID picture for Zander taken as it is a requirement for his new school. We were there on that Friday but there was only one attendant and she was still entertaining a client who ordered 40 pcs of keychain with her picture in it. So we decided to just come back.

After his picture was taken, we have to wait for a few minutes for it to be processed and released. So we went inside the mall to look for my “suki” or favorite seller of ripe mangoes.

On the way back to the photo center we passed by the stall of Onken Household and saw a two burner induction stove. It got me interested as I was planning to buy one when our Solar application with VECO (Visayan Electric Company) is been approved. This way I don’t have to buy gasul every time I ran out of gas.

They are promoting their products and showed a short demo of them. I was informed that by coming December, they will have a promotion of 20% discount on their products.

I was thinking that by December for sure my Solar application is already approved so I will just buy the item in December to avail of the promo.

After the short presentation, they asked me to write in their log book as sort of attendance for their office file. I wrote my name, address, contact number and signature to fill in the blanks.

When they saw what I wrote, they confirmed with me if I am really from Mandaue City and asked me how many years have I lived here and my answer to that is whole of my life.

Every one of them, the staff in that stall were very happy. I wondered why and asked. It was then that their head asked me to sit with him to explain another promo that they have.

Their company got Matet de Leon, an actress and Cathy Molina, a director, as their endorsers. They pay big amount to these persons. When their contract ended, their company decided not to renew their services but instead asked their clients to be their endorsers and in return the clients who agreed will get free products.

Each of their stall were given 4 slots for this promo. They said that they still have one more slot available for this promo. They showed me an album for the other Mandaue residents who agreed to be their endorsers.

One of them was the family of my daughter’s classmate. So I thought, maybe this is legit. So I asked them to explain further what will I buy and what will be the freebies.

They said that I just need to buy the Britelli Cooker for Php 69,900.00 ($1,398.00). It can be paid thru instalment at zero interest or Php 5,825.00 ($116.50) per month.

The Britelli Cooker can be used as an air fryer, stir-fry, make pizza, bake and grill.

So, what will I get when I buy the cooker?

I got the Sapphire Alkaline Water System. It has a four layer of filters for a safer drinking water.

I will also get the 2 burner induction stove. The one that I was meaning to buy come December.

Another item that comes with the cooker is Breezion Air. It is a movable air conditioner and at the same time a mosquito catcher / killer. It also filters the air.

The last item is a set of cutlery, a 24 piece cutlery set made out of stainless steel.

With all these items to lure me, I finally decided to buy it. I usually buy expensive items thru zero percent installment for 12 months as it easy on the pocket. 12 months pass by fast and then you will just be amazed that you have already finally fully paid the item.

After swiping my card, the seller again gave me another item for free. This time it is a vacuum cleaner.

She also gave me plenty of slimming patch. Maybe she was looking at my bulging tummy.

All in all, I went home with six major items and slimming patches.

In the car, I asked my kids if “have I just been duped”? “Is the cooker that expensive or have I just bought these six items for Php 69,900.00”?

I checked on the net on the prices of these items to compare. My kids tried to stop me. They don’t want me to be dismayed if I am truly duped but I just can’t help myself to check on it. Not all items were found in Lazada or Shopee of the same brand. So I just get the price that looks nearest to what I just bought or that has the same specs.

And this is what I have found out.

 Yeah, I just bought all items and not just one item. That’s how marketing works.

I was cutting on budget but I got duped on this one.

I also checked their Facebook page. There are negative feedbacks but there are also positive ones. The negative feedback is mostly of poor customer service.

Anyways, they are all useful. My daughters, especially, are already raffling off who gets to use first the Breezion Air Conditioner. The vacuum was already used to clean the car.

Will try the cooker soon.

My daughters asked “What has just happened? We came here only for having Zander’s ID picture taken but we go home with lots of items. Kindly explain.”

I just shut my mouth off.
