Hello again dear read.cash readers.
This time I have another Do-It-Yourself project using old CDs, re-purposing them for another use.
I crocheted covers for the CD to use them as coasters.
I won’t discuss about the yarns and the crochet hooks as @marblely has explained it well on her article “Froggo’s Journey”. This is the link to her article, should you want to know more about yarns and hooks, https://read.cash/@marblely/needle-craft-froggos-journey-part-1-6058036c .
The materials and supplies I used are acrylic yarns, crochet hook and used CDs.
This project is easy and good for beginners, who already knows the kinds of crochet stitches. I don’t have a picture for the step by step tutorial but below is the pattern I made for this project.
Starting with a magic circle, make 12 double crochet and join.
In rounds 2 – 5 have increases in them.
R2 – 2 double crochet in each stitches of previous round – this makes 24 double crochet in this round
R3 - there will be intervals of increases – 2 double crochet in the same stitch and 1 double crochet in the next stitch until you have 36 double crochet in this round.
R4 - 2 double crochet in the same stitch and a double crochet in the next 2 stitches until you have 48 double crochet in this round
R5 - 2 double crochet in the same stitch and a double crochet in the next 3 stitches until you have 60 double crochet in this round
R6 – is another increase but this time we are going to make a half-double crochet. 2 half-double crochet in the same stitch and a half-double crochet in the next 4 stitches until you have 72 half-double crochet.
In the next rounds, we will be decreasing the number of stitches.
R7 – double crochet in the next 4 stitches and double crochet two together in the next 2 stitches. You will have 60 stitches in this round.
R8 - double crochet in the next 3 stitches and double crochet two together in the next 2 stitches. This time you will have 48 stitches.
R9 – the last round – you only have to make single crochet around and will still have 48 stitches.
Fasten off and hide all ends. You can also sew in some designs just like I did mine.
Insert the CD in the finished project and you’ll have your coaster.
Let’s get crafting!
I miss seeing your article and crochets miss. ;) Btw, Mary Ann here, your virtual friend to other app
