Thoughts on your mind
What's on your mind?
This is one of the most famous questions we usually answer on Facebook as we use status updates to share and tell others what they are doing, and to gather feedback from friends. If we will take a closer look at what this phrase really means, it means " what is preoccupying someone, especially in a disquieting way?"
How about you, what is on your mind? What kinds of thoughts are bombarding you every second in a minute, an hour, each day? Do you consider your thinking healthy?
Try to respond the following statements used by some people to know mental state of people. Try doing this with a friend or just honestly answer it on your own.
I am losing my appetite
I am very anxious, worried or scared about a lot of things in my life.
I feel hopeless and helpless a good part of the time.
My self concept is not very good
I often feel afraid that others might disapprove me.
I feel sad
I feel moody and easily get angry.
I lost a lot of motivation.
I often have trouble sleeping
Morning is the worst part of my day.
I feel life crying more often more than I did a year ago and even months ago.
I often compare myself to others
I have had thoughts recently that life is just not worth living.
I usually blame my self or others.
If your response is true to majority of the following statement, your mental state may be unhealthy and negative. The mind is the forerunner of all actions. Our actions are a direct result of our thoughts. So many people's problem are rooted in thinking patterns that actually produce the problems they experience in their lives. As they say, if we have a negative mind, we will have a negative life.
The mind is powerful. They have a creative ability as they are going to affect what we become and even shape our future. The mind is the battlefield, therefore it is a vital necessity that we remind ourselves of a healthy thought life.
Lighten up
Human as we are, we worry. Mother's worry, students worry, all of us worry. I know telling you not to worry is about the same as advising you not to breathe. It's inevitable, yes, but choosing to do the best we can and leaving the rest in God's hand is a choice we ought to make every day to avoid wasting our time worrying. Our worries are wasted effort and don't do us any good. So why worry if it doesn't give us benefits?
Eat right & Sleep right
Quite often people who cannot seem to concentrate think they are mentally deficient. However, an inability to concentrate can be a symptom of vitamin deficiency. You have to take in vitamins that will improve your concentration therefore, if you have an inability to concentrate, ask yourself if you're eating right and are nutritionally sound. Get good rest and exercise. Even a simple walk and run will do.
Have a social media break
Social media has been feeding you with false self concepts. Your number of likes and followers doesn't determine yourself worth, not even a little. Self worth must come from the shifting sand of outside critics and opinions. Love yourself that you may be able to love others.
Spend time outdoors with friends and family
Develop new interests and activities. Reconnect with nature. Play any kind of sports with your friends and laugh with your family. Don't forget to surround yourself with positive influence.
Reprogram
There are thousands of thoughts presented to us every day. We need to continue to choose right thoughts. Your mind is like a computer that has had a lifetime of garbage programmed into it. Consider reprogramming it. It will definitely take time, and it won't be easy, but you are going in the right direction if you choose to do so. You will spend your time doing something, so it may as well be going forward and not staying in the same mess for the rest of your life.
Pray
This overused religious word may appear awkward to some but this is not about being religious at all. This simply means connecting and communicating to your healer. For some, it's God, for other it's another or the universe. Maybe the strength to change your thinking is not found from within, but asked from without.
I am a big user of facebook since I was in elementary and highschool trying to post everything in there. But I am not so active now posting, just scrolling through my feed and reacting on memes. Hahaha
