Things You Should Never Joke About `March 25, 2022` `Friday` Joking is the most common way for people to entertain and make others laugh. Every group of friends has that one friend who acts like a clown and makes us all laugh so hard that our stomachs hurt. However, joking can sometimes lead to something that is no longer amusing. A joke is supposed to be entertaining rather than offensive. There will always be that one person who goes below the belt and thinks it was fun for him, but it is no longer fun for someone else. We do joke a lot, but we should always be cautious and mindful with the jokes and words we say because not everyone is the same as us who thinks everything is a joke. It may sound funny to you, but it is already offensive to someone. They may laugh at the joke you tell, but deep down inside they’re already hurt by the words. You may think that it’s just a joke. We don’t know what everyone has been through, so we should always be cautious with everything we say. Even though it’s someone we know or even if it’s our close friend, The following are some of the most common topics that people make jokes about and make fun of. However, mocking this topic is inappropriate. Mental Illness It's so sad that in today's generations, most (but not all) teenagers make fun of mental illness, particularly when it involves someone who is suffering from it. People normalise mental illness because they believe it makes them cool, when in reality, it does not and will never be cool. Anything can easily trigger someone who is suffering from mental illness, resulting in an unexpected outcome. It's terribly sad that ordinary people desire mental illness and self-diagnose. Since the lockdown began, we've noticed an increase in the number of suicides. Students and teenagers are the most common victims, and the most common issues are school-related. I saw a video of an educated person laughing at the news of a student who committed suicide, and it makes me sick. It's extremely disturbing. Mental illness is not a laughing matter, and it should not be treated as such! Rape, Rape Victims If you’re that type of person who makes rape jokes, then please stay away from me because you’re a freak and disgusting. I can’t stand seeing someone making fun of rape victims, making rape jokes, and victim blaming. We should never make fun of it because we all know how traumatising it is to become a victim of it. I hope those who enjoy victim blaming and mocking it don't have a sister because they don't deserve a bother who is worse than a rapist. Kids who don’t have parents or Orphans I've seen a lot of memes about orphans and children without parents, and there are hundreds of thousands of people who think they're funny. Well, a meme is a short post that is supposed to be entertaining, but some memes are no longer entertaining and are excessive. Some people find it amusing, just as they do with dark humor. Making fun of children who do not have parents is not a good joke. Every kid deserves a parent, and we should at least try not to make them feel that they don’t have one. Physical Feature One of the most common ways for a person to lose confidence is through body shaming. Many people body shame others as if they are all perfect in their own right. We all have distinctive physical characteristics, but the problem is that society ridicules and judges us. Body shaming should not be taken as a joke because it is neither funny nor entertaining. . I'll admit that I've called someone "tambok" or "chubby," but it's also his nickname, and we weren't calling him that to make fun of him. We still call him "bok" even though he's no longer chubby because we've grown accustomed to it and he's not offended. That is why, we should be cautious about who we call names to, especially if we aren't particularly close to the person in question. It may appear normal to you, but not to them. Joking is our way of expressing our funny sides and entertaining others, but we should always be cautious with the jokes that we let out, because not all the time, jokes can be taken as a funny thing to laugh at.
Kanang body shaming sis grabi jud akong nadawat nga jokes nila.
It is wrong to consider mocking as a joke, mocking is trying to humiliate the other person, and calling it a joke is nothing more than an effort to mitigate the action.
But people in here loves mocking at someone and then call it a joke.
+100 on this haysss.
You hit them all, sis Jin!
We have to be careful of uttering words that could hurt someone's feeling. Even if they are our friends they could feel the same.
So true! Wether we're close friends or not, we should always be careful with the words we let out in our mouth. Maybe we find it funny but for them it's not.
Jokes are half meant. Those words came from our heart and somehow we believe that it is partly true. We just smile or laugh just to make the the words funny. That is why we should be intentional and mindful with the stuff we laugh about. Love this article of yours.
So true sis!
Everybody should be aware of this. It's okay to say jokes because it makes other people laugh. What makes it wrong is that when serious matters are taken as a joke. If all people would only be sensitive enough to feel others' feelings, there'll be no room for hatred, and insecurity in this world. So instead of making those serious matters a joke, we should help them to cope because they are fighting silent battles that they don't know how to win. Respecting and being sensitive is all it takes.
You're so right sis. The problem is that there will always be that person who doesn't care about the words they utter as long as they find themselves funny.
In my country, a lot of people joke about all these things you talked about and the worst of them all is the physical feature. Most people thinks it doesn't matter but they haven't put themselves in the shoes of the person on the receiving end of the jokes to know what they feel like
Same thing also here in my country kush. People do really love to mock someone and then call it a joke.
Joking is okay. But take into consideration the things you should joke about and recognize the people you joke with. A lot of instances, that what may seem like funny to you is not funny at all for that person. Especially for jokes that fall flat or are viewed inappropriate. I have observe a lot of people who take joking about physicalities so lightly, without even knowing that mere joke for you can destroy someones self worth and confidence. As what they say, jokes are half meant. Even if you said it a joking manner, it can be taken as an attack that may affect someones self esteem and how someone view you. When we joke with others, we need to balance multiple motives simultaneously. We may aim to just simply 'joke', as much as possible dont joke about something that can be taken as an insult, instead make positive impression on one another, so you can navigate conflict, have fun, and so on.
You are absolutely right! You just said it all.
Yung body shaming talaga ee. :(
Biktima ko pirme anang body shamming sis, pirme ko sungogon ana until now. Madugay ma anad nalang ka ba. Hays.
May isang sikat na comedian na host ng noon time show na mahilig mangkutya ng physical appearance. Yes, magaling siyang magpatawa pero yung laging joke niya is yung physical appearance. It is disgusting.
I know someone too, at feeling ko parehas tayo ng iniisip na tao haha.
Trueee. I've been a victim of it, simula pagka bata until now may na re receive parin akong mga salita about physical appearance ko.
I agree about doon sa mental health. Di talaga dapat ginagawang biro yan kasi di natin alam na ung simpleng biro na yan it can hurt other people mentally
Tru sis!
