Hard work is associated with a great deal of effort and endurance.
Smart work is associated with a great deal of planning and strategy.
This planning is the biggest difference Hard work and Smart work. Without properly strategy or planning whatever you do, the probability of success will always be low.
The planning should be based upon the reality. It should be based on ground level of situation. Now, the main problem is, we make strategy without understanding the situation properly.
When we understand the situation properly, it give clarity to our thingking, which make us confident, which lead to greater success.
You need to find out the easiest way out of a particular problem. Hard work never bothers about that. But smart work can make a way to handle difficult problem in an easier way.
Now hard work and smart work never come into the same column.

I will always choose a lazy person to do a difficult job because he will find an easy way to do it.
Hard work help you to solve the instant problems of our life overlooking the root of it. Smart work will help you to find the root of it and helps you eliminate it.
Hard work and work smart lead you entirely different ways.
Suppose there are to roads, one is narrow and other is thousand times broader than previous one. Now lots and lots of people are struggling and there to overtake one another. But the broad road is empty because no one is aware of its existence.
Hard work leads to the narrow road but smart work take you to the broader one
