How long are we going to watch and let the attack on our family go on?
I’ve written this a few days back, didn’t know where this was heading but just the topic on my mind. Unlike before I usually hold a pen and write, now, I just open word and strike the keyboard and whoola, I’m writing. My thoughts earlier this dawn linger on the article that I have tipped largely mainly because of domestic violence. Then come across some reads about red flags in relationships, the one from bad to worst. Then my thought crosses across the endless rebuts on my dying friends case!
Family
Basic or core or foundation of a society? Eit! Has been bombarded by attacks from some time now. Not just recently but it already happen a long time ago! The desecration of marriage vows, from annulment to divorce, separation. What’s more to come? Hmmm, the most recent surfacing of teenage gun violence at home and at school. Makes me wonder the kind of world my boys are going to grow up to. Gladly, TV is not a popular device at home but youtube is and there is another of the same platform, -puretuber that shows a lot of what’s going on out there. Say, search “teenage gun violence at school” on google and it will show you the “TOP STORIES” and just read the caption that it happened just about 1 hour, 10 hours and a day ago. Wow! I don’t expect it to be happening still even in the middle of pandemic. The rising number each year contributed by what? I can only think of some but really. Increasing numbers of moms working due to increasing demand in helping bring food on the table is one Or “women” now more inclined to their career than take care of their husbands and children at home. Children have been easy prey for bad influences now because of parenting negligence due to alienation and development of other priorities than rearing children?! Development of anti-social behavior in children because they failed to connect well with other people because the parents are too busy doing other things, failed to spend quality with them? What could be more important than being with their kids at home and share meals, stories, laughs every day? Displaced anger by kids due to loneliness, leading them to either be bullied or bully, even depression is not rare these days. What happens now to the basic structure of our society? Rising complaints of children too young to have vices, -drinking and smoking and too early for substance abuse. Even early pregnancy since porn is readily available and no good parental guidance is available, highly rising these days! Ironic as it is since campaign was launched a long time ago to address the issue and now currently enhanced and promoted at school making it a curriculum, sex education but still failed. Not taking into account the decline of our educational system, contributed by so many factors? Like, where did teachers go wrong when they’re highly supported government by extensive trainings and seminars during summer? Can only asked, what went wrong?
Realization
Oh! Blaming won’t do any good. Parents should start taking their responsibilities seriously as children are really growing wilder each day! Bringing in censorship to social medias, I don’t think it’ll do any good. Building a strong foundation is really the key, and that is basically the responsibility of parents, not just merely bringing food on the table. Hmmm, I really have to watch what I am writing as I am about to rant! Arggg! I want to focus on my scope, I can only imagine the best and the worst and educate my kids as highly as possible. Hahhh! (sigh), I am just really glad they fear me and still obeys, the moment I am demanding all ears, they give. Oh! Building their self-confidence and coping mechanism is really something I trying to reinforce these days as they are getting older. Acceptance too is another. Aiyst, what more can I do? I can only pray for guidance. Who can stop the growing changing of time? I can only think of equipping them the right equipment for the battle up ahead! That’s the game plan, hope it works. Needless to say what those were, I think I already laid down the foundation on previous articles! God bless all and a happy weekend! Take care!
