When your employer respects you
In today's society when everything is changing faster than ever before, there are still companies that do not keep up with the times and do not have the appropriate methods and ability to recognize the importance of employee satisfaction.
I can proudly say that I have the privilege of working in a company that respects employees. Yes, it is a privilege in the society we live in, although every company should act in accordance with the principles and methods that will increase employee satisfaction and thus improve their productivity and efficiency, which in turn leads to better business results. The company I work for, A1 Serbia, is a very successful company in the field of telecommunications, but what makes it unique is the care for employees.
Going to work with a smile
When an employee goes to work with a smile, it can be considered that the company has done a good job. I have been working for A1 for 8 years and so far I have never gone to work with an uncomfortable feeling in my stomach caused by involuntary action. On the contrary, I go to work relaxed, smiling, with positive expectations. I know that a work environment awaits me there, in which the corporate culture is at a high level and communication is open and free. To be satisfied at work, you must first enjoy the respect of both your superiors and your colleagues with whom you spend time every day.
Friendly spirit
The culture of interpersonal respect and friendly spirit makes us unique among so many companies in my country. Our culture is recognizable. We do not have a strict dress code, and we dress casually in accordance with our own style. We communicate in a friendly way and we approach every action with an open mind, without templates and some well-established general norms. We think out of the box.
In a society that is constantly changing, being free to express your opinion is very important for achieving results. When everyone expresses their opinion, open communication brings a series of solutions that go in different directions in order to achieve the best result. We act quickly and agile, adapt to changes and easily change the direction of our actions. This dynamic behavior of employees is possible only when you enjoy respect in the work environment.
How does my employer respect me?
In my opinion, respect is the basis if you want to feel good at work. When there is a lack of respect, everything goes downhill, and that is not in anyone's interest. The company I work for makes me feel respected for a number of reasons.
Work without pressure
Everyone who has a responsible approach to work is aware of their duties and will work to achieve the set goals. Naturally, people do not need pressure to do their job properly. My company allows employees to manage their time and duties without the pressure because pressure would be counterproductive. When you are relieved of pressure, you do your job more successfully and the level of stress is significantly reduced.
Respect for employees' rights
My employer makes sure that all employees' rights are legally respected, which is unfortunately not often the case in many companies in my country. We have flexible breaks during working hours. We rest when we feel tired. We work in a beautiful and pleasant environment. We always have fresh fruit and drinks. We have the right to use our vacations. In addition to regular insurance, we also have private health and private pension insurance. We have a kindergarten within the company, which is a great benefit when you live in a big city. My company respects moms. Mothers have the right to maternity leave, and after returning from maternity leave, they work part-time for a certain period in order to adjust more easily.
Gifts and extra money
When your employer delights you with carefully selected and original gifts, it really makes you feel satisfied. Every year we get some special New Year’s gift and every time it’s something no one expected. I love these surprises. We also receive gifts for birthdays, as well as for no reason.
Last year, a box of domestic products was sent to each employee's home address. We were in lockdown then and we all spent time at home, eating and hanging out with the family, so this box was the right choice for our family time at home. All products were delicious and high quality.
This year, since everyone is missing travel due to the time we spent in isolation, we received a travel suitcase and a cash bonus of 200 euros for the trip. My employer thinks well of our needs.
There were a lot more unique gifts. One of my favorite gifts is this wooden Christmas tree for memories and pictures, as well as this small laptop table that can be taken to bed to enjoy in comfort while working.
Safety first
The company I work for was among the first companies in my country to provide all employees with work from home when the first case of a Covid infected person was declared. In a very short time, every employee got a laptop and we all worked safely at home. We still work from home and everything works very well.
Corporate events
My employer organizes numerous corporate events in order to socialize employees. Sports activities, team building, parties. The last party we all had a great time at was New Year's party last year. Lots of fun, good music and great mood. In addition to being colleagues, sometimes we really feel like a big family. This is one of my favorite photos from the mentioned New Year’s party. And the smile on my face says much more than anything I’ve written.
In the end, I would tell you that it is really a great pleasure to work in a company that respects you and motivates you to feel good at work, because our workplace is a place where we spend many hours of our lives.
I hope that you also have positive experiences with your workplace.

Greetings to all of you wonderful readers and writers.
I think everybody wants to find such a nice place where to work, specially if we have to spend many hours per day there. But unfortunately the conditions are worse lately, and it's difficult to find also good bosses and good workmates to work with... a good atmosphere is necessary to feel ourselves better and to be more productive as well. Actually it's a win win but I don't know why so many people can't see or understand the importance of that.
