Some Villains That Hindered Our Recent Goals
No movie would be compelling enough to watch if there are no villains in it. My band’s journey isn’t a movie, but let me tell you there are real villains that made this endeavor of ours even more challenging. Let’s talk about these real-life antagonists.
Villain 1: The neighborhood pervert
I have to say this is the first villain that me and my pal Gifter ever dealt with. I still remember that day, October 15, 2021. The day before that was the first day we met. I got out of the house early because we planned to have breakfast together. As I was heading towards the street where Gifter’s hotel was located, there was a motorcycle that zoomed beside me speedily.
To my surprise, which instantly turned to extreme agitation, the driver touch my left boob. Just a few seconds later, the guy, zoomed faster and was nowhere to be seen. I told Gifter about it and he vowed he would beat the guy to a pulp if he catches him one day.
A few weeks after that, there were reported incidents of women being harassed by this pervert. A few weeks more and the guy went on some hiatus. Most of these women, as well as the people in the village, ignored the guy, but not Gifter.
Sometime in January, when Gifter moved here to my city, that pervert resurfaced. This time, the victim was our lady helper. The guy would traverse the street outside our house back and forth with his motorcycle. At first, this only spooked Sai-sai a bit.
But there was an act of his that went too far, he unzipped his pants and played with his manhood right outside the gate, right in front of Sai-sai. When I told Gifter about it, he was greatly bothered and angered about it.
How Gifter dealt with it.
He took a course of action that would pose a huge burden on him. He decided he should jog every day near the house just to catch the guy. Though Gifter is a regular jogger there in Davao, I know he’s not accustomed to my city’s freezing mornings, I know it would take an extra chunk of his time as he does his physical fitness routine while trying to catch some neighborhood criminal.
I can clearly recall Gifter’s worried face at that time, “I can’t rest comfortably in my apartment knowing there are 3 ladies in this big house that are in danger” he told me. Yes, there are only 3 of us in the house: me, my grandma, and that lady helper.
Realizing he can’t be physically present at all times to protect us, he went to the nearest police station and brought 2 policemen with him back to the house. The men in uniform did some questioning and promised to offer police visibility for the next days.
That made us 3 ladies feel a bit safer. Sometimes though, I still worry that the pervert guy might come back. What if he will do something worse than playing with his manhood outside the gate?
Despite scary problems like this, I and Gifter still went on with our daily practices and whatever needed to be done to achieve our goals. Apparently, even the tendrils of a criminal can’t stop my resilient music partner from reaching his dreams!
Villain 2: My Grandma
We had our first practice here at my place. Stranger as he is to us and to Sunny, she kept on barking the entire session we had on that day. Sunny was really disturbing. I got very disappointed with my performance. For sure Gifter was disappointed too.
And so Gifter decided to have our practice in his apartment the next day. I told grandma about it and as expected, as conservative as she is, she gave me negative comments about it. I'm a woman and it's bad for a woman to go to a man's place.
I dealt with it by explaining that we were not doing anything wrong. I can't blame her for that, she's conservative. Even me, though I had doubts about it but I reminded myself that my commitment is firm to this endeavor.
After weeks of practicing, coming back and forth here in our house, Sunny befriends Gifter and grandma slowly trusted him. But just recently, I told her that I'll head to Davao and spend 3 days there to shoot our music video. She then started to talk to me about a lot of things about stuff here in the house.
She's worried about everything. Everything that I usually do here like buying the groceries, fixing the faucets in our bathrooms, withdrawing her pension to the ATM, and Sunny getting sad always.
But I understand where she's coming from. I understand her sentiments and that's just how she expresses her concern to me.
Honestly, I am quite sad about what's gonna happen here in our house if I'll be on tours more often. Who's gonna accompany them? Who will do the things I do here in the house? That concerns me the most.
Thanks for reading.
Keep safe everyone!
