I am back with a movie review and summary! I am always fond of watching historical movies. One favorite movie I'll never get tired of watching is Schindler's List. Liam Neeson is the main actor and he portrayed the role well.
Tell you, this is an amazing and emotional movie. It also delivers how well-produced the movie was as the cinematography was highly efficient.
Saving lives will always be one of the most heroic acts any human being can ever come up with. And in doing such an undertaking, Oskar Schindler seems to excel to the point that he should be hailed as some kind of “reluctant hero.” Why he should be labeled as such is because initially, his intention was just to save the Jews that work in his factory due to pragmatic reasons. Only later would he realize that his intentions resulted in a historic act that would be looked into by those who dig deep into his story.
In World War II, the Germans have forced local Polish Jews into overcrowding the Krakow Ghetto. Oskar Schindler, a business-minded ethnic German from Czechoslovakia ventures into the city hoping to make a fortune out of its bustling structures.
As a member of the Nazi Party, he enjoys the bribes given to him by German Armed Forces members and high-ranking officials. With the money he accumulated, he acquires a factory that produces enamelware.
To help him propagate his business well, Schindler employs the help of Itzhak Stern, a local Jewish official who was a network of contacts of black marketers as well as man other prominent people from the Jewish community.
Stern proves to be efficient in providing the help that Schindler needs in running his factory in terms of financial matters.
It did not take long for Schindler to become a prominent figure due to his business to the point that he is known among the locals as “Herr Direktor.”
Because Jewish workers are meant to be paid less compared to German workers, Schindler exploits the idea, he hires a lot of Jews and they comprised the bulk of his factory’s workforce. This is viewed by Stern as a means of preventing those Jews from being sent to concentration camps where they will surely be exploited for the war efforts which would certainly get them killed.
Sometime later, a 2nd Lieutenant of the German Armed Forces named Amon Goth arrives in Krakow to supervise the construction of a concentration camp. As Goth plans to liquidate the area, many people were shot and killed. Greatly affected by the massacre he witnessed, Schindler was never the same after that.
While he was out horseback riding, he saw a young girl wearing a red dress, which he saw later in a pile of corpses. In spite of his growing disgust over the events that are taking place, he is still able to maintain his friendship with Goth though – as he continually receives bribes and monetary benefits from the German Armed Forces.
Consequently, though, he uses the bribes he receives to save the lives of many Jews until he eventually runs out of cash. During the commencing parts of the story, he is hailed by many Jews as an extraordinary man who can be thought of as someone who saved the world though he just saved the lives of thousands of Jews.
Heroism can come in many forms. And in the case of Oskar Schindler, he was the unexpected hero who saved a lot of lives. Indeed, he never intended to be heroic, but eventually, he became one.
His actions to what’s good and noble can be proven by the fact that he sided with the innocents and that he surrendered to the Allied Forces. His exploits and heroism did not only become one of the greatest stories in literature but in motion pictures as well as it got eventually adapted for the cinema as it won the best picture award.
Thanks for reading!
Keep safe everyone ❤
