New normal

I salute all parents who were able to pass the first and 2nd week of war against paper! Maybe you are wondering what am I talking about?

This past few weeks was the first release of modules to public schools in our country. I observed that lots of parents are having a tough time in aiding their children with their modules. As per the subject, the content is too much for a child to flip through it and comprehend in one sitting only. It's an advantage if the child can read and write so it's a bit helpful to make the learning procedure a bit faster. But the problem arises when the child can't understand what he is reading. This will be the time when a mother or a father will enter into the situation and assist the child in understanding his lesson. Another but... What if the parents are busy like they have work, what would happen to the child? Or the parent lacks education? This would be another problem. This situation is a scenario of the new normal in our country.

I heard numerous complaints about this modular activity. Mothers are stressed because their child is having difficulty in comprehending the lesson. Others have numerous children so the guardians are like ping pong balls who go back and forth entertaining the kids left and right with the house chores left unattended.

One thing more, parents do multitasking by going to school by collecting the modules in one day and submitting the packets another day so they consume 2 days of time wasting of retrieval and submitting only.

Kids do overlap other schedules also if they weren't able to finish the one they are answering. The next one overlaps the other and so on and so forth. It makes the children missed their playtime and recreation. The next will be boredom.

It's not an easy task to become a parent. It becomes a challenge as a parent and it would be his or her initiative how they can come out with a solution regarding the situation. But as I observe, this modular activity just adds a burden to some parents. In our place, people here are so industrious, during the lockdowns, they were able to do their daily activity on the farm and not being affected by the pandemic at all. They farmed and made more plots of gardens in wide areas than usual. But after the modular class started, they weren't able to tend to their weedings anymore because they need to stay home to assist their children. How can they survive then if they will not be able to take care of their farms?. How can they survive in this pandemic if they have no supplementary source of food supply. Childrens' modules whose parents have no education are being returned because it was unaccomplished. No one to ask for help because everybody is having their own modules also. How can they learn in this situation?.

So it's the negative effect of this new normal as I observed here in our place.

absolutely right .it really is a burden, yet we need to comply though it's against our will😞.. my kid who is like learning again the basics of reading takes time to finish a full paragraph without comprehending what he had read. so I need to be by his side all the time, thankful that he was already in 2nd grade and not in kindergarten or grade1 which needs more time

We need to endure more mom. We don't want this but we have no choice. We have a choice though but to delay the studies of our children.
