Hello everyone and to all readers amd my subscribers here in Read.cash. My topic for today is all about Designer Water. This article of mine is the situation of water here in the Philippines.

What with reports of contamination by heavy metals, nuclear wastes, fertilizers, pesticides, amd leaking fuels- not to mention the sorry state of some public water supply systems- some people are afraid to drink the water that comes out of their kitchen faucet.

What are some alternatives to tap water?
👍Bulk waters, sold in one-gallon plastic jugs are very popular. These come from springs or wells, or are processed from ordinary tap water.
👍Mineral water, contains dissolved minerlas, sometimes natural, sometimes added.
👍Sparkling water, is a generic term for any carbonated water. Some, like club sodas are relatively high in sudium and should not be used by people with high blood pressure.
👍Seltzer water, refers to filtered carbonated tap water that has no added mineral salts.
👍 Distilled water, is the purest. All minerals have been removed, either by distillation or by osmosis, leaving the water tasting rather flat. Its the hardness of the water-the menirals- that guve water its flavor.

Is bottled water safer or better tasting than that from the tap?
A lot of people must think so. Each year many people spend billions of pesos on bottled water. We should know, however, that government requirements for bottled water are the same as they are for tap water. If your water supply is up to standard, what comes out of your faucet may be just as pure, just as safe, and just as wholesome as the water you buy in a grocery store.

Are you saying that most tap water is safe to drink?
Some water supplies have been chemically contaminated. It's also true that outbreaks of infectious diseases have been traced to tap water- though this extremely rare in developed countries today. But we need to keep this in perspective. Likewise, any problem with a water supply is apt to be broadcast out of all proportion to the real danger it poses to yhe majority of people.

How can I tell if my tap water is safe?
There are a number of ways to protect ourselves;
1. Public water systems are checked for safety, sometimes several times a day. The test results are public property amd you can request a copy.
2. If you suspect possible contamination between your municipal supply and your home, you should have your water tested at the point of its use.
3. If you depend on orivate wells, your local government may test your water for a nominal fee.

What can I do if my tap water is unsafe?
If you live in an area with unsafe water, you can protect yourself by installing your own filtering sysyems. A good charcoal filter removes most contaminants and makes the water taste good. Other more sophisticated methods are also available. There are simpler solutions as well. The dangers of lead poisoning can be minimized by running the tap for a minute or so before drinking from it.

As for chlorine, draw water into an open pitcher or a glass jar and let it stand. The chlorine will evaporate and the taste will improved.

This all seems so complicated. No wonder some people fear their drinking water.
The irony is that most of us faceore health hazzards from not drinking enough water than we do from its possible contaminants. Tap water is a much cheaper than bottled, and its nearly always at our fingertips. If it checks out safe, we should not fear drinking it. Just make sure to drink plenty of it- six to eight glasses a day.

Thank you for reading my post and have a nice day to all of us.
