Health Facts featuring “The Unforseen Truth About Colon Cleansing”

If you read my previous article about 10-Day Detox , I mentioned there some bad effect of colon cleansing – that colon cleansing can harm our body’s natural probiotics.

In this article, I’ll share to you the misconceptions of colon cleansing.

Today’s Internet banner ads, television commercials and glossy print ads promotes the benefits of colon cleansing for a healthy colon, quick weight loss and increase in energy levels. But the truth is, colon cleansing is harmful in another way.

Colon cleansers can destroy friendly probiotic bacteria that is important to our immune and digestive health, including the health of the main detoxifier - the liver. This creates an imbalance in the colon and gut that’s not helpful to good health.

Our human body produces natural bacteria in the colon that detoxify food wastes and our liver neutralizes toxins. If toxins accumulates in our body for long time, it might turn in chronic disease.

Our liver is the master detoxification organ for processing toxins to avoid forming chronic disease. When it’s functioning properly, it breaks down many of the toxins into a form that is less harmful and more easily eliminated from our body.

Our skin, respiratory system and immune system are other systems that protect you from toxins. In fact, our body is constantly detoxifying 24 hours a day, seven days a week. If our body was to stop detoxifying we likely wouldn’t survive beyond a few hours.

We can’t totally avoid toxins in food or from the environment, but like most people we want to limit the amount of toxins we’re exposed to. Some colon cleansing products may temporarily relieve constipation, but won’t solve the root of the problem.

The better and safe way is to eat a healthy, fiber-rich diet to prevent constipation and support healthy bowel function without the risks of colon cleansing.

Everyone can benefit from supporting natural detox processes through good nutrition, maintaining a balanced gut and drinking plenty of water. Give your digestive and detox systems the support they need by eating a balanced diet of whole foods, instead of using colon cleanser.

Rather than taking processed carbohydrates, eat fiber-rich fruits and vegetables to nurture colon health. Add a high-quality probiotic supplement to your diet to supply your gut and colon with friendly bacteria, especially if you don’t eat a consistently healthy diet.

Doing these things will give your body the detox support it needs, without the risks of colon cleansing.
