A Simple Act Of Kindness Can Change Someone's Life

I was watching videos on YouTube yesterday as part of my Sunday hobby, I stumbled on this video that caught my attention and I thought it was about a crime that involves a kid. I was curious so I watched it, then I found out that it's a story of a young kid who was inspired to change her life due to the simple acts of a policeman.

Kaylen is a little girl living in the USA with a neighborhood roled by violence, street gangs, and brutality, instead of peace and order, an unlucky place for a little girl to live in. And with a bad mother who sometimes disappeared from home for several days, leaving her and her little siblings starving, the only way to save them from hunger is to steal foods from the store.

A nine-year-old girl was forced to commit her first crime. The police found out about her bad action, but she never thought that it would be the start of a change in her whole life.

But despite all the unfortunate things in her life, she did not despair and believe that those things will only bring her hope and will turn her life around. And instead of going out again to steal food, she preferred to stay inside their home, away from dirty streets and violence, and just sit by the window every day, watching people and the world outside.

A police officer learned about the incident and decided to patrol around her house every day to check on them. He always drove by their window every day wearing a beautiful uniform, his walk and his whole appearance fascinated Kaylen. The little girl always looked in the window waited for his appearance. One day she felt happy and surprised when the man smiles at her. From that moment onwards, they kept saying hello through the window every day that made the girl happy.

One day the man knocked on her door, smiling and wanted to have a chat with the girl. The police officer told the girl that if she and her little siblings need help, she can always call him, and told her not to be afraid of anything because he is always close by every day.

Considering that their mother wasn't always around, the officer became the only close person she could trust. And that is how the friendship between the little girl and the police officer started.

One day, Jeff, the police officer, looked at the window and he was surprised that Kaylen wasn't there. Jeff felt something wrong as it seemed off that she did not come out that day. The concerned Jeff broke down the door of their house when he did not heard any response from Kaylen.

As he entered the house, Jeff saw Kaylen lying on the floor with her two little brothers crying next to her. He immediately rushed her to the hospital and Kaylen was diagnosed with severe malnutrition that caused her fainted on the floor. Kaylen's mother picked her up in the hospital and the police officer talked to her mother, but to no avail, it hasn't changed anything.

From that day, the police officer always visited Kaylen and her little brothers with some food. That happened every day, and the police officer always reminded Kaylen to stay strong and she should never give up.

At young age, Kaylen learned how to absorbed his every word and she did everything he has said. He stands as a father to her, and a man Kaylen could trust.

But their friendship has interrupted when their mother moved them to a different city and Jeff didn't know what happened to Kaylen and how her life turned out, but Jeff continued to do his job.

20 years later, when Jeff was about to retire and leave the service, a surprising event came, set up by his colleague. He was told to went to a place, and as he gets there, he saw a beautiful young woman, full of strength and energy. The young woman went up to him and hugged him. That moment, Jeff realized who was standing in front of him.

But what surprised and made him cry is when he found out that Kaylen was trying to find his savior all the time. Even if she doesn't know his name, she did everything to find him and even went through open databases of police officers but did not get anything.

Kaylen thought it was the end of their story, but one day she received a letter from Jeff's colleague who also set up their meeting. It turned out that, even after 20 years, Kaylen still remembers everything Jeff has said to him, that she should not give up, and remember him saving her life.

That's why she decided not to end the cycle of kindness in this world. She was inspired by Jeff's small actions back then that she decided to become a police officer as well.

And when she finally learned the police officer's name, she ordered a bracelet with his name and the word "Real Hero" written on it, and gather herself a reminder of why she's guarding the city streets and residence.

Kaylen is now a mother of two beautiful children and gets to live and enjoy her life, and it was all thanks to a stranger that she used to wave at every day when she was young.

The simplest action Jeff did every day has changed her life.

This real-life story is just an example that even the simplest action can change someone's life. A small action executed multiple times can give a huge impact on someone's life, even in this world, because if those small actions are compounded over time, they can create a huge difference.

But sometimes, those small deeds are not recognized and are often disregarded because we always fall in love with instant gratification. We don't need to be rich or to be powerful to change the world because even our small deeds can make a massive difference.

That small action can be anything, financially, emotionally, morally, it all depends on the situation. If you know someone who needs help, who needs motivation, who needs a shoulder to lean on, do not hesitate to give your helping hand.

Because you know why? Changing someone's life means changing our lives as well. We may not be able to change the whole world, but we can change the world around us, we can change our life.
