Meet Akeelah, an eleven year old girl who has the ambition of making her new found ability take her to the highest platform it the world of spelling bee competitions.

Her mother is against this idea, her coach for her spelling bees decides not to coach her again, her close friends start to ignore her but her community gives her their maximum support and love. With all this going on, will Akeelah be able to concentrate and make her dream a reality?
