Holiday season is around the corner. And when it comes to holiday season it won't be complete without talking what food to serves and eat. And I am sure many of you are thinking that this season you will gain weight after your diet and exercise in the past months.
Don't worry, here are some ways to avoid holiday belly fat. You can enjoy the holiday without thinking the dreaded holiday weight gain.
Get Enough Sleep
Make sure to have the 7 to 8 hours sleep. Getting enough sleep is basic when it comes to avoid gaining weight. There is a connection about lack of sleep and gaining weight. The amount of sleep you get impacts the hormone level and can lead increased your appetite and less energy in any physical activity.
Reduce Stress
Stress is often overlooked caused of belly fat so try to focus on the joys of the season and find ways to reduce stress. You can do some yoga, or any forms of movements. You can also do some reading, painting or drawing or whatever that can makes you relax.
Eat the Rainbow
Don't take this literally. Eat the rainbow means focus of variety of colors of foods like vegetables or fruits to make sure you don't forget to get the vitamins and minerals that your body needed. By eating the various colors, you will benefit from more of the nutrients available in different kinds of foods.
Practice Food Favoritism
I am sure some of you are the type of person who eats everything in the table during holiday season thinking that this is time that the food you don't eat/see often is present in the table. To tell you, avoid thinking that way, especially if you don't want to gain weight. Don't feel bad about the food if you don't eat them. If you don't like certain dish, it's okay to not to eat it. Eat the foods you only want to eat.
Make Time for Movement
After eating comes the laziness. We don't want to move our body and just want to sit in the chair or couch. Makes some movement or exercise. A walk will be fine. You can also dance with your loved one with your favorite holiday songs. Makes sure you make movements. As what Filipinos always saying "Galaw-galaw para iwas stroke."
Don't Skip Meal
"I will skip breakfast, so I can eat more later." Admit it or not we often say or hear this. Know that if you skip meal, means you will be more likely to overeat.
Limit Alcohol Consumption
Holiday season is the time for celebration and gatherings. Spending time with your families and relatives that you don't see in a while, so a booze cannot be set aside. Limiting your alcohol consumption can help you reduce weight gain. Skipping drinks can allow you to sleep more soundly and reserve energy for movements.
Be Mindful
Being mindful is becoming popular in the world of health. Fulfilling what our body wants is possible to becoming a healty person. Be more aware of what portion of foods you put on you plate rather that fulfilling your hunger.
Gather Around the Table
Has someone told you that they are full just seeing you full? Well apparently, that cringy line is helpful. Instead of focusing on what food to eat, enjoy your meal with your loved ones. Savoring the moment rather the delicious food infront of you. Your body will let you know when its full so you won't be overeating.
