Memories are worth to keep and worth to remember, either good or bad. Good memories makes us laugh and bad memories makes us strong and tough.
Childhood memories are the most memorable moment. Why?
Let's take down some memory lane...
Being a kid, one thing was only in our mind, and that is "to play". Play all day especially during weekends. Going home with dirty clothes was natural with sweat all over our body. We don't have much problems aside from our homeworks and assignments.
So here is some games and things we used to play and do.
Hide and Seek or "Tagu-taguan"
Who didn't know this game? I guess all around the world know this and also played it. Hide and seek was very popular. The best time to play this game is during twilight. Where the surrounding are slowly turning into nightfall. Before we start the game, we first talk about some scary or ghost stories, to make the game trilling. That's what we do. Some scaredy-cats won't hide far and can be easily found.
Luksong-tinik
This game is one of the most popular Filipino game. Playing this game is easy. Two people from both side will sit facing each other and spread their legs. Players will jump over it. If the players didn't touch the foot, the two will stack their foot one at a time. If again the players didn't touch any of the feet the two will add again their foot until they used their both hands.
I used to play this game together with my classmates. Our teacher always scolded us because we came to classroom covered with sweat. The room smells unpleasant sometimes.
Luksong -Baka
Luksong baka is the same with luksong tinik, the difference is that there is only one who serves as the "taya". The "taya" will show her/his back where the players need to jump. The players must not touch (with their legs) the back of the "taya", but as the level gets higher the player can used their hands to jump over. Who ever touch the "taya" will become the new "taya".
4."10,20"
This game is a group game. A rubber band attached together and looks like a chain is needed in this game. There is a song here but I already forgot. The only thing I remember is that, in playing this games, you must avoid your feet being tangled into the chained rubberband. If you do, you are out. Your teammates can save you by doing twice, for you(who's been out) and for the person who will going to saved you. The game has its level. It goes higher until you spread your arm (the one holding the rubberband) upward.
I remember my classmate, she can reached the rubberband until half of our arms are spread without being out. Her body twisted and looks like a letter C. She is really a good player, that's why when we planned to play I want to be her teammates.
Sungka
I remember playing this with my neighbor. A wood with holes (7 holes plus a home) and shells or stones are needed. You take turns putting the shell in the holes one by one. The player who has a lot of shell in their home will be the winner. (You can dig on the ground if you don't have it. Make sure it has the number of holes needed.)
Jungle geranium or "Santan"
Jungle geranium or "santan" is a common plant. It's leaves and flowers are small. Girls love to play with it. We used to picked the flowers and sucked it's nectar before making it to a necklace, bracelet, earrings, or even a crown.
Slides
Slides are commonly found on playground. But in my hometown where slides are only one and yet is it broken, then we have to find something similar. A sack or a coconut branch is perfect to used when sliding. We slide down to the river (the water is not deep and there's a space before the water). We sometimes decided to have some race.
Dragonfly Hunting
During breaktime or even after class, we do this dragonfly hunting. We catched small dragonfly and put it on a "walis tingting" or midribs of a coconut leaves, and that's how we used to catched the big dragonfly. Don't worry, we just let it go after.
We still have so many things and games we played before that sure are fun and exciting. We will continue to go down on our memory lane. But for now, I'll end it here.
Hope some of your childhood memories are remembered through this.
See you on our next memory lane!

Batang 90s ka kung naexperience mo yan. ππ I doubt kids are still doing those kind of games, mostly are busy playing their phones or watching videos. I feel pity for these kids, they won't experience real childhood happiness just what we had in our time.
