Technology becomes part of our life and no doubt about it.
As if makes our life easy we are too focus of the benefits we gained from them and neglected the negative effects.
Our education of today is focused on the online learning. Learners are into the used of technology such as cellphones, laptops, tablets, and computers. Not to mention adults also uses technology. We are too attached to our smartphones. We can't spend our entire day with holding our phone.
Digital Dementia is a modern day health epidemic that is resulting in a sensory mismatch in the brain from over utilization of technology and excessive slouched in sitting posture. Adults and children are prone to this who are too engaged in the technology.
Signs and Symptoms
Adults and children may demonstrate a signs and symptoms include decline in cognition and short term memory loss, developmental delays, social seclusion, lack of movement, anxiety, depression, anger, balance disorder and uncoordinated movement patterns. It may be a risk especially if children spend more hours a day and sitting infront of their computers or any gadgets.
Tips
Reduce Screen time and Increase Playtime. Instead of using your spare time or free time browsing or using your phones. Engage more in some recreational activities. With the helped of activities such as playing, running or etc. you are developing a fine motor pathways and are stimulating the part of the brain to improve your balance and posture.
Better Posture, Smarter Brain. I am sure you are one of those students who received an unending reminder from your techer to sit properly. Sitting properly can make you think properly. Of you are using your phone or any devices, sitting properly is necessarily. First, pull your phone on the eye level. Second, when seated infront of your computer, pullcypur shoulders and head back. Your ear should be over your hips with both feet on the ground and make sure your spine are straight. Lastly, if you are using laptop, avoid putting it in your lap make put in closer to your eye level.
Technology is been part of our society, what we need to do is be mindful in using it.
May be we didn't noticed that we are already suffering from digital dementia. In the drama I watched, the doctor simply explained digital dementia. Forgetting your phone number or the phone number of your loved ones is a sign of digital demential. You happened to experienced a short term memory loss.
