It's almost 8 months since the novel coronavirus broke up and spreading almost in every country. The governments are struggling to stop the spread of it. But since the the enemy can't be seen in our naked-eye, it's hard to win.
The government in the Philippines, where I belong, are taking all the precautionary measures to stop the spread of the said virus. The Bayanihan to Heal as One Act, also known as the Bayanihan Act, and officially designated as Republic Act No. 11469, is a law in the Philippines that was enacted in March 2020 granting the President additional authority to combat the COVID-19 pandemic in the Philippines. Rules and regulations are highly implemented.
New normal was been established to control the spread of the virus. Wearing face mask and face shield when going outside becomes neccesary. Senior citizens and kid are not allowed outside. When it's neglected by anyone, a suitable reprimand and punishment are given.
The spread of the virus affects everyone's life. Some losses their jobs and some closes their establishments, as per se by the government.
"The coronavirus or Covid-19 is the defining global crisis of our time and the greatest challenged we have faced since World War II...https://www.undp.org/content/undp/en/home/coronavirus.html#:~:text=The%20coronavirus%20COVID%2D19%20pandemic
The spread of coronavirus took the inocent lives of almost millions of people and it continue to grow as each days passed by. Lots of pharmaceutical companies are busily finding the vaccine to stop the spread of the virus.
The questions is, Is it possible to turn this crisis into an opportunity? How?
Recently, I've watched a variety show where they talked and tackled about how a crisis turn into an opportunity.
On that variety show, it said that, coronavirus was not the first pandemic that the earth faced. During 14th century, a virus was spread due to a dead human body thrown that causes the virus called "plague". Europe was the biggest toll of the said virus wherein it took one-third of the its population and the morality rate was 50 to 90 percent.
During those times, people believed in supernatural beings, that those supernatural beings will take care of everything. But the pandemic did not resolved and because of that people began to doubt religion. The culture shift to be more human - centered, and that results and the birth of "Renaissance".
They no longer praised or revered supernatural beings. They began to wrote a songs about humans, wrote an artwork about humans, and drew about humans.
Back then, people looked down on science and technology because they are busy praising supernatural beings, then suddenly science and technology began to advance. The advancement to science, printing technology advanced. As the printing technology became popular, knowledge became common.
As more people began to read, they'd question, "Why do we have to kneel before royals?" "We can be owners too."
After the revolution, American and French, democracy occurs. A democracy is a byproduct of a pandemic.
Pandemic results of the birth of Renaissance and Democracy.
Todays situation is very tough, but through the people who are sacrificing their lives to safe others we can put our trust to them. Helping one another is a great contribution to heal everyone who's in suffer. People began to think of ways on how they can help.
In conclusion, the only way to defeat this pandemic is to trust each other, concession, consideration, service, sacrifice, and cheer. We can make this crisis into a chance and an opportunity be united.
The physical distance may be far apart, but the mental distance is closer than any other time.
