My Tribute To TWD and Entry To The Art Challenge
October 26, 2022, Post Num 232
My favorite Zombie Apocalypse TV series is about to end after 11 years (more or less). The show has three episodes left. However, the TV show had some spinoffs like Fear the Walking Dead! And there are a couple more titles that I haven't watched yet.
I wonder how will it end. Will Rick Grimes and Michone return before the show ends? What will happen to Negan? What will happen to the group? Ahh.. so many questions in my mind and I can't wait to find out the answers.
Greetings once again my readcash friends. I was planning to write about something else today, but I got so busy at school and I have been working on a digital drawing for my entry to HivePH's Art Challenge. I wanted to make at least three entries for the fourth and final week, unfortunately, I think I only have time to make two.
For my first entry, I will dedicate my work to my favorite TV series, The Walking Dead! Yeah, after 11 seasons, it's finally going to end. *sigh*. Coincidentally, one of the prompts or themes for this week is "Zombie"!
When I saw it, I thought why not? It's not the first time I drew zombies. In the past, I created a few tsumbies to show my disgust at the influx of spammers on another paying social media app a couple of years ago. We jokingly called the event "tsumbie spamocalypse." (Calling the attention of TSU veterans ).
The only thing that I was grateful for to that platform is, it brought me to this platform. (Again, thank you @bloghound).
Here is my final drawing for my entry.
Yeah, I did not create just one zombie, but a horde of zombies!
Short Version of The Process.
I started working on the sketch last Sunday, using Medibang Paint. It took me about two hours from the initial sketch to the "ink" outline.
I only started working on the colors yesterday. I have a hectic schedule this week. But whenever I have some time to take break, I worked on drawing as my way of relaxation. And I can't work for more than thirty minutes at a time. I had a history of RSI that almost caused me to have Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Actually, it was already the start. And I also had a case of trigger fingers just before the pandemic started.
Normally, I'd start with flat colors. Since I am creating a zombie, I wanted the skin and everything else to look pale and withered, so I desaturated everything.
Then I added at least two layers for each set of objects (skin, clothes, hair, etc..) so I can add light and dark tones.
The T-Shirt Design.
At first, I just wanted to draw a zombie. However, I had a plain shirt. I thought of what will be the design. I decided to create a The Walking Dead title with a silhouette of one of the characters.
(Let me see if there are TWD fans: Who is the katana-wielding character in TWD?)
When I was done with the zombie, I was planning to create the background. I thought why not create a horde?
So I did.
I think I spend about 8 hours all in all creating this.
In Closing.
In the second week of the art challenge, my entry won third place. Last week, my entry won second place. I hope I can grab the grand prize this week the reward is 3 Hive... (don't ask me how much is that in USD because I have no idea how much).
This is it for now. Thank you for reading.
(Wow I finished this article in less than an hour! that was quick)
