Scary Dwafs

In our country dwarfs is called 'nuno' means small grandparents or the spirit of elderly. Those people who seen this kind of creatures says it looks like a small old man with a long white beard and they usually have their hats, where that the elders believe has a power. They also believe that in this hat has their powers if they lose it they can't do anything and they can't go back to their home.

This little old man usually live in a mounds or anthills - It is a small hill or pile of stone, dirt or sands. They say that if you see mound you need to you need to ask for their permission to avoid the misfortune or bad luck that would come if you get them angry. They also believe that dwarves are playful and they usually show themselves into children. And they easily angered to those who harm their mound.

Do they have a magical powers?

They says that the powers of the dwarfs came from their hats. They do have the power to curse you.

Ex.

• They can give you pain in any parts of your body, usually the parts of your body you use to harm their mound.

• They can make you vomiting blood.

• Urinating black liquids and having a bad smells from it.

• Make any parts of your body big.

They can curse you if you make them angry. And they usually get angry if you harm them or their mound. Example if you kick or urinating to their mound.

It is a common beliefs in our country that if your illness can't cure by the doctors, this illness maybe because of the dwarfs curse. So they brought the patient to albularyo - they perform the traditional medications, more on rituals and no medicine involve. This ritual called pagtatawas - in this ritual they melted a candle into the spoon and poured it to the bowl of water, then the melted candle form a shape on the water surface. In this kind of rituals the albularyo can tell what are the reasons of your illness.

And to survive this curse, the victim's family need to offer something to the mound of the dwarfs and asking for their forgiveness, they usually offer fruits or a fresh blood of animals, because if they don't do that they believe that after a few days evil spirits might possess the body of the victim, which could cause insanity to the victim.

To avoid the misfortune or bad luck that the dwarfs can bring, children are reminded not to play outside or near to the mound of the dwarfs and they need to come to the house before the sunset and the children are also warned to ask for permission before passing by the mound they need to say 'tabi-tabi po' means your are asking for permission to pass by.

Four (4) color of dwarfs

• The Black dwarfs - they believe that this is the bad dwarf, they can harm you even you don't do anything bad to them. They look like an ugly old little man but if they like you they can bring good luck to you.

• The Red dwarfs - this is the brave one and don't you ever try to make a agreement with this dwarf because you don't know what will they ask in return.

• The White dwarf - they are the playful one they usually show up to the children and play with them. They're have a power to heal every kind of illness.

• The Green dwarfs - this is the lucky one, specially in gambling but this is also the hardest to find.

Dwarfs in mythologies

Germanic mythology, a dwarf is an entity that dwells in the mountains and in the earth. The entity is associated with wisdom, smithing, mining, and crafting.

In Norse Mythology, A dwarf (Old Norse dvergr), is a certain kind of invisible or a small creature, a characteristic which is never mentioned in ancient descriptions of these beings.

The dwarves are pitch-black in appearance and live underground in Svartalfheim, a place which was probably thought of as a labyrinthine complex of mines and forges.

The dwarves are most often noted for being extremely skilled smiths and craftspeople. Among the many irreplaceable treasures created by them are:

• Mjollnir, the hammer of Thor

• Leipnir, the chain that bound the wolf Fenrir.

• Skidbladnir, a ship which belongs to Freyr.

• Gungnir, the spear of Odin.

• Draupnir, a ring owned by Odin.h

• Brisingamen, a magnificent necklace owned by Freyaa

• Long Golden hair of Sif, Thor’s wife.

They turn to stone if exposed to the rays of the sun.

Four dwarves, Austri, Vestri, Nordri, and Sudri (“East,” “West,” “North,” and “South”) hold aloft the four corners of the sky, evidencing their colossal strength.

What does it mean if you dream about a dwarves? They say if you dream about dwarfs it means you need to pay more attention to your actions and behavior, but every kind of dwarfs have its own meaning.

• Evil dwarf, this is a sign of an enemy coming, some people around you might betrayed you.
