Sunday morning, I spent time with the Star Gooseberry Tree that my mom planted at one corner of the property wall, as it is now producing a large number of fruits, many of which have fallen to the ground. The Star Gooseberry Tree is something in between a shrub and a tree that can grow up to 10 meters tall. It has a dense and bushy crown that provides attractive shading and produces fruits all year. I enjoy eating it raw with a mild sweet and sour flavor or dipping it in chili dip or shrimp paste. With so many Star Gooseberry fruits available all year, we like to make pickled Star Gooseberry or candied Star Gooseberry so that we can enjoy them for a longer period of time. If you have a chance to visit Thailand or South East Asia, you should have a try the Star Gooseberry.

Oh i cant eat a much of that because its so sour... But its good especially when you have a fever.. we just deep it in salt.
Growing up we have this tree too. We call this Iba in our local Visayan dialect and garamay in tagalog. This is sour.
Interesting. I've never seen or heard of this. I thought they look a bit like grapes.
We have here a similar local fruit called bilimbi.
