“What time I am afraid, I will put my trust in thee.”
Psalms 56:3 RV1895 https://bible.com/bible/1922/psa.56.3.RV1895
Today’s verse has such a powerful meaning for those that seek it. We are all afraid at times, it’s part of the human experience. I want to focus on trust today.
Growing up, i lived science. I was taught, like math, it was truth that didn’t change …. But it did. I learned three different models of the atom and pluto lost it’s planet title, and so on.
I was taught that science and faith don’t contradict, but people like to explain works of faith through science. I didn’t look too answers of how miracles worked through science, but it was out there.
However, it wasn’t until the covid mess that i feel i fully started trusting the Lord. It wasn’t because i was scared. It was because for the first time i really saw that even science could be manipulated by public opinion and politically correctness.
Living overseas, in Taiwan-right next to China, the narrative was different. But they quickly wanted to follow the US. Originally, they callec it the WuHan virus. But the international community didn’t like that.
So first masks didn’t work, and then they did.
Then one shot was protection for you and everyone because you would not get it and would not spread it.
Then it was two…. And so on. And it didn’t protect you from getting it or spreading it, just from serious simptoms.
Then lockdowns were good except for the psychological damage they caused (i was studying psychology at this time and the instructors couldn’t believe governments lockdowned).
Well and so on.
Science failed me in an eye opening way. However, as it failed, my trust in the Lord was strengthened. He was the one aspect of my life that didn’t change. He was my rock, my foundation, and i trusted in Him.
We all fear, but we all don’t trust in the Lord. We trust in other “things”. Be wise. Trust in Him.

“casting all your anxiety upon him, because he careth for you.”
1 Peter 5:7 RV1895 https://bible.com/bible/1922/1pe.5.7.RV1895
Today’s verse is a beautiful one that i learned late in life and I’m still working on.
When i was younger, i dislike to bother people with my problem and i should take care if them myself.
Then i learned that the Lord to help, but i still felt my problems are not worthy of the Lord attention.
Now i understand that the verse says “all” and not “worthy”. Also, i can’t do everything perfectly without the love of the Lord. So i constantly pray and reach out to Him for help, support, and guidance.
Now i still have problems in my life, but my method for dealing with them is much more efficient with trust in the Lord and His loving help.

“Every one therefore which heareth these words of mine, and doeth them, shall be likened unto a wise man, which built his house upon the rock:”
S. Matthew 7:24 RV1895 https://bible.com/bible/1922/mat.7.24.RV1895
Today’s verse shows us the timeless wisdom and teaching style of Christ. His down to earth example and timeless truth still blow people away.
We all need something to build our lives upon. Some use social media, friends, politics, nationalism, or family.
While i can understand the importance of the above, i find the unchanging timelessness of Christ much more compelling. They don’t change and they hold as much relevance to us today as they did when first spoken.
Amazing.

Be alert
“Be sober, be watchful: your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: whom withstand stedfast in your faith, knowing that the same sufferings are accomplished in your brethren who are in the world.”
1 Peter 5:8-9 RV1895 https://bible.com/bible/1922/1pe.5.8-9.RV1895
Today’s verse reminds us to focus on who our adversary really is. It’s easy to get confused and fall for his tricks. It’s easy to see the person that is causing us pain, but we seldom see behind the person to the root cause.
We all have weak moments and fails in life. We all screw up and regret actions and words. But we need to remember that everyone goes through this. We all make mistakes and give bad impressions to who we truly are.
Remember to forgive those that wrong you. The Lord always forgives us, we should imitate Him.

S. John 3:17 RV1895 https://bible.com/bible/1922/jhn.3.17.RV1895
Today’s beautiful verse comes right after one of the most wellknown verses in the Bible. And it gives us a chance to focus on God’s desire of loving us so much that Jesus died a horrible death to open up new opportunites and offer salvation to all.
Could you imagine if the Lord was more human and held grudges and was quick to judge? Everything would be very different and we might not be here.
We are so lucky to have a loving Redeemer and Lord. Please don’t focus on the negative, but see the beautiful life you have been granted with. We are all loved.

“Wherefore I take pleasure in weaknesses, in injuries, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.”
2 Corinthians 12:10 RV1895 https://bible.com/bible/1922/2co.12.10.RV1895
Today’s verse is one of those that are ready to read and say, “of course” or “amen!”, but to put it into actions is difficult.
This is a paradox of life, i think. We want things we like and we want things to go smoothly, but we really grow when we go through adversity.
I think it’s because that’s when most people really depend on the Lord and seek Him out. That’s when our faith is increased and strengthened.
I try to keep mindful that the Lord is with me all the time, but when a problem comes up, i lean on Him more. I ask for more strength to get through whatever the situation is. And i know, that regardless what happens, it’s something introduced into my life that can help me grow in faith.
Society labels followers of Christ as superstitious fool that are pushovers, but nothing could be farther from the true. We are fortified with the love of the Lord.

Faith
“Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the proving of things not seen.”
Hebrews 11:1 RV1895 https://bible.com/bible/1922/heb.11.1.RV1895
Today’s verse is a great example of how important faith is. Everyone has faith, but it’s easier to have faith in the works of the world.
Think about it, we have faith when we drive that yellow and white lines will keep cars in their correct lanes and that they will follow traffic lights. We have faith that even though we don’t know the pilot or engineer, they will get us to out destination. We have faith on our money that it will be accepted.
However, they can fail. When they do it’s tragic.
However, faith in the Lord is more beautiful and powerful. Faith in Him is the key to salvation. Faith in Christ is the greatest power we can hold in to regardless of what we are going through. He will never abandon us. We can always count on Him being with us. With faith in Jesus, you don’t need insurance.

“And they that are of Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with the passions and the lusts thereof.”
Galatians 5:24 RV1895 https://bible.com/bible/1922/gal.5.24.RV1895
Today’s verse is a wonderful reminder. This who love Christ should check their focus in life. Focusing on the world and the pleasures obtainable leads down a path that takes us away from our Lord.
We have been given the Holy Spirit to be our guide, strength, and compassion. We have holy scripture to be our fortification and power. We have everything we need to strengthen our spirit and get our desires under control.
When we deny the world, we can find the peace and love of the Lord. We can go home to our Heavenly Father.

“Iron sharpeneth iron; So a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.”
Proverbs 27:17 RV1895 https://bible.com/bible/1922/pro.27.17.RV1895
Today’s verse is so beautiful. I love the literary device it uses allowing us to visualize the lesson. Simple, yet, very true.
Friends bring out the best in us, but at the same time, they also shape who we are and what we will become.
For me, there is nothing better than hanging out with friends. Some friends sharpen me physically and mentally. Others sharpen me spiritually.
When my friends do neither, we have to work together or perhaps, i have to be the one sharpening the friend.
Regardless, remember your closest friend is the Lord. He will never let you down.
Who sharpens who?

1 John 4:4 RV1895 https://bible.com/bible/1922/1jn.4.4.RV1895
There’s lots of power and hope in today’s verse. John tells us the the Lord is in us and He is more powerful than the enemy that we face. Then why is life so hard?
For me, the biggest enemy is my own mind. While there are forces of evil out there trying to get us to turn from the Lord through sin, most of the forces i face have made their way into my mind.
They are when i think in a way that i know to be not like Christ want us to. Sometimes, it’s a continual battle to consciously strive to live a life of a child of Christ. I have to remind myself i want to be like Him and love Him. I could never make the sacrifices that He had. But i must try.
I know He is victorious. I know i will be victorious with Him. But as a follower of Jesus Christ, i must strive to be more like Him.

“For thou hast possessed my reins: Thou hast covered me in my mother's womb. I will give thanks unto thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: Wonderful are thy works; And that my soul knoweth right well.”
Psalms 139:13-14 RV1895 https://bible.com/bible/1922/psa.139.13-14.RV1895
Today’s verse highlights a truth that no one can deny. The Lord made us all uniquely and out of love.
I am always blown away by the intricacies of the human body. Science tried to figure everything out, but in the end, there us no explanation beyond divine intervention and purpose. From the complexity of the human brain to the way we do things without thinking. It’s awesome.
The same can be said for the complexities in our life. Every struggle had a meaning and a lesson. Maybe our lives are as carefully planned as our brains. It really blows the mind.
Give thanks to the Lord. He made you before you were even a thought. He made you lovely, perfect, and with a divine purpose. Find it.

Imitate Him
“Beloved, imitate not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: he that doeth evil hath not seen God.”
3 John 1:11 RV1895 https://bible.com/bible/1922/3jn.1.11.RV1895
Today’s verse hits right at the human psyche. We are creatures that learn through imitation. Children imitate parents and adults imitate their close friends or people they are around. Even if we don’t know it, we have the seeds of people we admire and want to be like in our hearts. Eventually, the produce fruit and the behavior comes out.
But what about influences in our lives that isn’t godly or realistic? What about internet, media, and entertainment influences? We all know that even the shows we watch can influence our behavior and thinking. That’s why it is important to think about what your being exposed to and if youre an adult, what your children are being exposed to. At the very least, make it a conversation topic with yourself and others about if it is something worth imitating.
This is the reason we should draw closer to the Lord. We know that He is good and He is love. We know that He doesn’t change. He is perfect and beyond the influence of social norms. His Word is perfect and even though it hasn’t changed, it’s perfectly made for everyone.
Draw close to the Lord and learn to imitate Him. Put those seeds in your heart and let them grow.

“beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.”
1 Corinthians 13:7 RV1895 https://bible.com/bible/1922/1co.13.7.RV1895
Love is so powerful as this verse tells us today. There are many kinds of love, but the most powerful is the love that the Lord has for us. It’s eternal and sacrificial. It’s a love that we should emanate and try our best to show to everyone as Christ says.
Sometimes it can be difficult and go against our feelings. But deep down, we know it to be the correct action.
Keep love in your heart and overcome all.

Simple Salvation
“for, Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Romans 10:13 RV1895 https://bible.com/bible/1922/rom.10.13.RV1895
Today’s verse is the proof that we are loved. The Lord has done everything to get us to Him. He did all the hard work, now the ball is in our court. Now it’s our job to perform a tough task.
Wait, all we have to do is believe? That’s not even difficult for most of us. That’s great.
I think for some people this is difficult, because in our society, especially entertainment, “Jesus” is the butt of jokes. Sometimes, Hollywood portraits Christians as superstitious fools. People who grew up with this idea, might have trouble finding the truth and really believing in Christ.
Other people experienced false priests or preachers that abused the power that they had in the name of Christ. Wars have also been started in the name of Christ.
It’s important that we share the true Christ with those that have less than accurate images of the Lord or bad experiences.

“And the God of all grace, who called you unto his eternal glory in Christ, after that ye have suffered a little while, shall himself perfect, stablish, strengthen you.”
1 Peter 5:10 RV1895 https://bible.com/bible/1922/1pe.5.10.RV1895
Today’s verse is a wonderful one because it hits on a fundamental truth about how we change. For me, most of the changes made to me personally have been made through suffering. If i hadn’t have gone through this tough times, i would be a very different person.
I guess this is because people don’t learn from good things happening to them. At least not most people. The lesson is, “nothing happened. I can do it again” even when we know that we are wrong.
When we suffer, weather we deserve it or not, it opens our eyes and we grow up a little. When we suffer something tragic, it can change us a lot. We might have more to overcome than just the suffering. Sometimes, suffering can be a full meal deal. Our whole life changes. Other times suffering can be term.
Whatever kind of suffering i have suffered, in retrospect, i see it as a gift and a great teacher. I’m thankful that i have suffered. It has given me character and helped me grow.
Of course, no one likes to go through it. But i think we should learn from it, pray about it, and know that our Lord loves us, had a plan for us, and will strengthen us.
Don’t give up.

Seek the Lord
“let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.”
Isaiah 55:7 RV1895 https://bible.com/bible/1922/isa.55.7.RV1895
Today’s verse is special for me. Maybe my interpretation is wrong, but it’s what i get out of it.
For me, it emphasizes the forgiveness and love of the Lord. For me, it is talking about the times when I’m not doing such a good job at being like Christ. When i get caught up in worldly endeavor.
It’s easy for this to happen. We know that we are saved and it’s a gift that is paid for and freely given. But we should, i need, to strive to be better. I want to show the Lord my love by taking up my cross and walking with Him. It’s a reminder to be too return to Him when i stay.
As for the word “when”, for me it means “now” while I’m thinking about Him. Even when i pray, i tend to get lost in thoughts of the world and need to ask for forgiveness and pray again.
He will never leave us, we will never be unable to find Him. It’s the other way around. There will be times when we are unable to give enough time to look and we might be more occupied with our lives. It’s sad, and that’s why i seek Him when i am thinking about Him.
