Financial freedom, a hopeless dream or an achievable goal?
Short Answer: Yes, but not for everyone.
Imagine waking up one day with a jolt, your alarm didn't ring this time, you look quickly in the window and see that the sun is already up for a long time, you start to get anxious imagining your boss screaming at you for being late and possibly even firing you. Just before you start to have a mental breakdown, you remember one little thing, you don't need to work anymore, there's no boss to judge your actions on every passing second, no one to tell your worth based on how well you obey them, so you take a deep breath and smile as you realize that you are free to do whatever you want today.
Which one of us have never envisioned a life where working is an option and not a necessity? a life where you can do what you want with your time and money is never a concern? I can safely bet that at least 99% of the population in the entire world has already trought of that at least once, even I'm one of those who hopes to one day be choosing how I will spend each hour of my day, after all this is the true meaning of financial freedom: being able to use your time as you wish.
But here lies the true question, how can any of us ever attain such a difficult financial position? can a normal person have a chance to work towards this objective?
First we have to consider the facts, financial freedom is one of the hardest things to accomplish in our society, many may think that it's a simple matter of earning a big enough monthly salary and now you are rich for the rest of your life, but the truth is, the more you earn, the more your cost of living increases, as stated on this article: 60% of the people who make more than $100.000 a year live paycjeck to paycheck.
So having a high paying job isn't enough, actually it has nothing to do with financial freedom, to be free you need to earn enough with passive income to pay your cost of living and live comfortably, this value will be different from person to person but the principle remains not mattering how much you may want to earn, it needs to be a source of income that isn't tied with the amount of time you spend on it.
Now that we know what financial freedom is and what you would need to be free, the only question left is, is it feasible for me and you?
My answer is: Yes, I truly believe it's achievable for those who have three essential qualities, the first one is discipline, to be financially free you need to save money regularly, constantly research on different ways to earn a passive income and not be influenced by people not believing on your goal, the second one is being bold, have you ever heard of the quote "To achieve what others won't do what others don't"? it's meaning is very simple and applies exactly to this situation, only by being fearless and not giving up after your failures will you be able to achieve this lofty goal, and lastly you need to be creative, not just by thinking outside of the box, but also by choosing to trust your own decisions and ideas, to challenge anyone who don't want you to succed and never letting your dream die.
The bad news: without those traits, it's impossible, no amount of luck will ever sustain an undisciplined, lazy and fearful individual.
The good news: anyone can have them, by taking one step at a time you can conquer each of those traits and surpass even your own expectations on what you would be able to accomplish in life.

My life has had many failures and come to the point of having depression, but every day I work without resting because I really want to get well in my life, maybe I will make it or maybe not, but discipline is also part of achieving a dream without knowing it will come true at some point, thank you for this article.
