Introduction

Halloween is a holiday in European countries and it is celebrated in almost all countries of the world, it is a traditional event that is celebrated on the 31st of October every year, people wear scary costumes and decorate their houses with scary materials.

Why Halloween is celebrated?

Halloween is an old traditional event, it was celebrated when summer ended and people believed that when all crops reaped the spirits of elders came into the town, to chase away them, they wear carry dresses and decorated houses and towns with scary materials, since that time Halloween is celebrated every year.

There are four origins of Halloween traditions

1. Trick or treating

In this tradition, people give some sweets to the people in exchange for prayers for their old dead souls.

2. Masks and costumes

Ancient people wore masks and scary costumes that they had never been recognized by ghosts.

3. Jack o lantern

Scarry faces were made on pumpkins and potatoes in the middle ages to chase away the ghosts.

4. Orange and Black

In the ancient pagan harvest period, orange symbolised crop and black as the death of summer.

Note: This is the history of Halloween that I know and searched from different sources of the internet if I made mistake at any point, let me know in the comment box that I will correct it in the article. Thanks in advance.

I live in Europe and my country, not other European countries I know celebrate Halloween. What you described is more the American way. Some attraction parks started with it but most of us do not celebrate at all. If you are lucky scouting, a school or garden centre is carving pumpkins with (little) children but that's it.
