The Chase for Clout
It's been a great few days here on readcash, as ever since I've registered It's been nice getting to know more people and reading a lot of articles from different users here.
I was scrolling through my news feed when I saw a post about a lady who gave a false rape alarm on social media and was later on arrested after well meaning Nigerians took up the case but were disappointed to find out she was only seeking attention. There have been many like this and there certainly will be more.
As humans, we're meant to be social creatures so it won't come as a surprise that some people aggravate towards Fame and popularity. We have people honing their art and doing something significant in various fields like medicine, music, acting, business and so on. Some of these individuals have made their marks in their fields that it's expected that they enjoy some level of popularity for the work they've put in.
But fame isn't always in the positive light because just as we have people who are known for making positive impacts, there are people who would do just about anything to gain cheap popularity. It's really a global world today with technology and the internet, news travels fast across the globe.
It's quite saddening the level some people would go just to get attention. Negative attention is never useful except to tarnish your image further. I hear the lady was arrested and probably in the next few days we'll be hearing of the action the police has taken. For a nation that's already extended it's security resources, she has wasted the time of the police over something silly where such time would've been better expended focusing on other pressing matters.
As much as fame is cool and certain people love to bask in the public view, it's not worth it when you're eventually getting yourself into trouble.
The same way a lady assaulted a music on stage recently, and although her face was not recognizable in the trending video. She had to make another video claiming people shouldn't judge her, the second video made it quite obvious she wanted people to know who was behind the action. In the end she got a load of negative responses her way and I'm sure she must've learnt her lesson.
This trend must stop as there are more positive things to do with our time than seeking unnecessary attention. With a young population of millions in a nation battling economic crisis, you would think people would channel their energy to ore creative things.
Never seen a more silly girl recently
