Pastel sticks pt. 1 I'm back to drawing! And I really didn't want to sketch for so long because I finally had the braincells today to continue my papers so I made use of my pastels and the usual 2 hours drawing time. @Saha99saha this is what me and @Schire was telling you earlier about blending since you already have pastel stick there plus you can actually do this trick with crayons since they're both waxy medium
Had to sketch my goldfish because I didn't want have flowers to draw ;-; for pastels and crayons, you really have to start with the darkest shade of the color because you'll use the lighter colors for blending it in
Like so. Oof the orientation is flipped over again ;-; but the transition in colors is still visible at least
See? I used the darkest orange, orange, yellow orange then peach to blend it all together and also the lightest color is there to give the object more texture. You'll need to return to the other shades too for the details, of course
I drew it in it's aquarium 😊 so you can see that i blended a lot of colors here with only the stick, didn't need anything else
So this is how it finished up. I was getting sleepy to even bother giving the rocks and the ground more details than it already has

I have pastels here but never used. Before I like drawing but easily get bored as well... my sister is better in art. She even know how to paint and won the contest at her schol last year.
I never got bored of it, it just became habitual for me to draw and all but it's good that your sister kept going. at. It though ^-^ congrats to her win!
Yeah, but i don't have enough time for that and get bored and lazy every day off... but I have sketches and drawings at home

Looks like a blind fish though? But thank you. This is usually the only medium allowed in competitions tbh so I was trained well with pastel ;-; i still don't like it much though

I was forced to. The lack of people who could draw in my batch was real 😭 pastels don't have smell? If they do, it smells waxy though.. which ones did you even try using?
Hahahaha lucky they got some artsy batchmate💕 Well, I have a strong sense of smell that's why. I've tried using different brands of pastel and all of em has the same weird scent differs only on how strong the scent is.
Sad for me cuz i was always the only choice. Ahh so that's why. You don't use a gas mask? I do that when i use paints because i can't stand the smell of those
And guess what, you're the greatest choice they could sent to the competition coz you're skilled. I've only tried using cloth masks but still can't stand it, maybe I'm imagining the scent or I'm just crazy😂. I'd rather smell the scent of paint😂
I only started winning.. by the later half of my second year. The judges never allowed me to bring other mediums so it sucked for me. Hmm... maybe you just have a different scent preference. The paint smell just makes me dizzy plus i don't wanna became infertile 😂
I see. Why not allow you? Is it indicated that you'll only use a specific medium? Hahahaa. Yeah right, that's also why I've never tried using paint in arts specially spray paints.
I don't know? I think it was just for uniformity and fairness though i work best with paint and pens more than anything I love spray paint though! But i guess digital arts is your true calling
