Hello!!! I've returned from a rather lazy day and I decided on a change from my usual content. So in the past few days, my man has been showing me the progress he's been making on both his custom gundam as well as putting on details on another gundam. I love it when he does this because it makes me think that my opinion matters, specially since we both ended up seeing gundam as a form of art now.
Anyways, I'm proud of how much he's improved in just 7 months since he started with this hobby. It's a rather expensive one, sure but it keeps him really happy and I love how excited he can get over news of an update or just when he finishes building and he shows me his progress. He's definitely a kid at heart but that makes him all the more charming and lovable to me.
His collection all started out with this little guy. This is an SD that he received from his company Christmas party as his exchange gift as well as a bunch of other stuff. He also go a few bootleg Lego figures which really excited him. This was his first build that took him 4 hours straight (and I got ignored for those 4 hours XD). I wondered at first what got him hooked that he eventually began looking gundams up. He showed me a lot of what he looked into. He also began listing down the kits that he wanted to try building the most.

Then came our first date of the year 2020 where I took him to a hobby place I knew that sold so many of the kits he showed me. I could never forget the look on his face while he looked for one of the kits on his list (Only one shop sold it in that entire mall and I swear, it was so much walking). But I also can't forget how happy he was when we bought it. We split the payment for this so it kind of counted as a Christmas present from me? The expressions he made on that day will forever be imprinted in my memories.
His second kit, Astrea type F. He actually calls this one the cursed kit because he hates it so much. It was a litany of complaints in the entire duration of this build because he had to file so many pieces just to make the, fit together. Plus he fixed the LED lights a lot because the wiring was bad. A series of kits followed after that, but of course, he only bought on pay day. And as his enjoyment for the gundams grew, so did mine. I tried to understand a lot about these figures and even watched some of their anime, specially his favorite gundam series. And I asked. As much as I could. He answered them to the best of what he knew but one thing's for sure, he was excited to answer too. By the next date in February (we only get to go on dates once to thrice a month), He had at least 5 built ones and who knew that by then we would be getting kit 6, 7, and my very own mini gundam.

I had wanted to try building so he got me this one. It's the one I always looked at whenever we go to gundam stores. We never had much of a chance to see each other by March and when the lockdown came, it took a while before he could build again because of safety protocols but I still managed to get him something for his birthday back in may. It was a surprise and when he called to tell me that a package for him came. Ahh! I wish I could have seen his expressions then

Now that shipping has been moving again somehow. He's been trying his hand on customizing the kits and turning them into cats.
At this point, I can only help him figure out how to use the airbrush and the mixing of paint to get a certain color or effect but that's the only support i can give to him now. Can't massage or kiss his fingers anymore when they get tired or when he gets cuts on them(and it happens way too much, honestly). Soon enough though, when this pandemic dies down... I'll get to see him again
That's what we think so. That's why he's keeping his favorites in mint condition just in case. He even has a few collector's items now >w< though i mostly handled transactions because I'm better at looking than he is
Wow! This has brought me a lot of memories! The gundam series was one of my favourite series to watch as a kid. Especially The gundam wings. I love this very much!
OHHH YOU LIKE WINGS TOO! I watched that recently because i fell in love with the gundam design! While bf likes the 00 series. They have a similar theme though but 00 has the ultimate gundam
No i didn't watch it....YET! xD so i will give it a try. But smaller and cuter? I don't know. One of the main reasons i loved (and still do) Wings so much is how prestigious the gundams are. Elegant and kinda fearsome in a way. But i will give it a try anyway. Thanks for the suggestion.
Well yeah, each gundam on the wings series had a really good design. Even the kit is no joke- the first full gundam i actually want to build is wing gundam snow white prelude because damn, it's beautiful!
Well for build fighters, their take on gundam was more on fun. Not the serious war based one like in wings and 00 so that's why the designs were made to comply with the theme
I agree with how badass is gundam snow white prelude! It's one of the best if not the best really! And yeah. I get your point about build fighters. I will surely take a look on that.
Right???? ;;w;; that kit is divine and probably the best version bandai hai ever made as a kit. The other wings kit, i like from a bootleg maker. They justified it so well
Oof I suddenly want to make a wings tribute and show you the evolution of the wings gundam kits from bandai to the bootleg editions to customs because i swear, you will fall in love with those
